INTRODUCTION
• Amitabh Bachchan is one of the greatest and
most influential actors in the history of Indian
cinema.
• Mr. Bachchan was born on Sunday 11th
October 1942, in Allahabad, India.
• The ‘Shahenshah’ of Bollywood was born in
well-known poet's family Harivansh Rai ji
Bachchan and Teji Bachchan in Allahabad.
• Amitabh went to Sherwood College, a boarding
school in Nainital, and then to Kirori Mal College in
Delhi University where he earned a double MA
degree.
• He had to struggle a lot in Bollywood because of his
unconventional looks and his height. At 6’3”, he was
considered far too tall by the filmmakers.
• Surprisingly, despite having a rich baritone voice,
Bachchan failed in an audition at the All India Radio!
• Ultimately, it was K A Abbas who gave Amitabh his
first break in ‘Saat Hindustani’. But the film failed
miserably, with Bachchan going almost unnoticed.
• Amitabh played the lead role, for the first time in his
career, in ‘Pyar Ki Kahani’.
• It was on the sets of ‘Ek Nazar’ that Amitabh and
Jaya Bhaduri realized that they were in love with
each other. They married soon after.
• Amitabh got an award for the best supporting
actor for ‘Anand’ which was with Rajesh
Khanna.
• Amitabh got his first Best Actor Award for
Manmohan Desai’s ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, next
year for ‘Don’ and then for ‘Hum’.
• He also gain the National Award for Best Actor
for ‘Agneepath’.

Uttar Pradesh and won by one of the highest victory
margins in general election history (68.2% of the vote).

Two types of learning : learning through
experience or through reinforcement and learning
through observing others
Regard situation as an important determinant of
behaviour.
Individual determinants of behaviour :
competencies, cognitive strategies, outcome
expectations, subjective value outcomes, self
regulatory systems and plans.
Social Learning from Big B
1. Don’t give up. Hard work goes a long way.
2. Family always matters.
3. Money finds those who deserve it.
4. Age is just a number.
5. Don’t stop at nothing.
6. The best way is not the ‘high’ way.
7. Learn to say NO when it matters.
8. Success has no (geographical) limits.

DETERMINANTS OF PERSONALITY
1.Heredity:
Physical stature, facial attractiveness, temperament,

biological rhythms are characteristics that are considered
to be inherent from one’s parents.
The following characteristics is inherited by all humans
1.Physical structure(tall, deep baritone voice)
2.Reflexes
3.Intelligence
•Among the factors that exert pressures on our personality
formation are the culture in which we are raised, our early
conditioning, the norms among our family, friends and
social groups and other influences we experience.
•The culture in which one lives in, that may involve
traditional practices, norms, customs, procedures, rules
and regulations, precedents and values, all are important
determinants of personality.
•Big B is so great and yet so humble. He maintains a
dignified humility before everyone without discrimination.
2.Environment:
3.Family
•The family has considerable influence on personality
development ,particularly in the early stages.
•Usually, the parent’s of the same gender as the child
will serve as the model for the child’s identification.
•Big B who holds the reputation for his strong will
power and temperance often credits this to his father
from whom he learned this.
“Paisa badi Muskil se Milta hai”
•His father used to return back home late after
working for long hours and Big B used to open the
house door for him ,his father used to say “Paisa
badi Muskil se Milta hai”.
•A couple of years later Big B joined film industry
with a busy schedule doing three to four shifts and
return back home late .His father used to open the
door and Big B used to say the same lines.
•His father was a hard worker, sincere, disciplined,
punctual and so he(Big B) is.
4.Situational
•When a person behaves contrastingly and exhibits
different traits.
•For example,a person behavior will be totally
different when he is in office, in front of his boss when
compared to his hangout with friends.
•Big B never loses control in any situation. None of us
have seen Big B speaking rubbish about anyone. He
speaks little and speaks with calculation.
5.Social
•The society that we live in, the cultural
environment that we face daily, the community
we get interacted to, all are included in this factor.
•Relationships, co-ordination, co-operation,
interaction, environment in the family,
organizations, workplaces, communities, societies
all contribute in way or another as personality
determinants.
His humbleness was evident in KBC ,a television
show hosted by him , where he used to get down
from his seat to receive each and every contestant to
their Hot seat and supported their chair while they got
seated.
