A drug is any chemical you take that affects the
way your body works. Alcohol, caffeine, aspirin and
nicotine are all drugs.

Alcohol is a depressant. It slows down your
brain and this affects the way you think, feel
and behave.
4. COCAINE
Cocaine is a powerful and highly addictive drug
made from the dried leaves of the coca plant.
Cocaine is usually a white powder that is most
often snorted. Cocaine that's been made into
rock-crystal form is known as crack.
5. MARIJUANA
Marijuana is a shredded,
green-brown mix of dried
flowers, stems, and leaves
from the plant Cannabis
sativa.
6. HEROIN
Heroin is a highly addictive drug
made from the seed pod of the
opium poppy plant. Users take
heroin because of the highs,
but it can also have dangerous
side effects, including death by
overdose.
7. LSD
LSD is short for d-lysergic acid diethylamide. It's a
powerful synthetic (manmade) chemical that's made
from ergot, a fungus that grows on some grains. LSD
can give people hallucinations, change the way they see
reality, or alter their mood. Getting high on LSD is often
called a "trip."
