3. “NME” Music Magazine Analysis
• The target audience for NME is young people, both male and
female, we know this because there are always male and female
musicians on the front cover. It has a ratio of 69% male readers
and 31% female readers
• The main readers of this magazine will be the average age of
24 years old because it largely focuses on today’s music.
However, NME won’t appeal to all young people, only the
ones that like music.
• The main image on the front cover is usually very famous singers
or the new-comers. Especially those that has been in the press a
lot as being well known which is what teenagers like the most
and are fascinated about it.
• NME has a simple colour scheme. It uses colours such as red,
blacks and white. In this magazine they have used a light blue
background and pink and white fonts so that the text and the
pictures don’t blend in with it and they stand out more.

•The Masthead : Is the logo of the magazine “NME”which is
short, bold and positioned in the left corner which makes it
more noticeable to the reader and easy to recognize to people
who want to buy this particular magazine.
•Main Image : is a young female singer, she is the lead singer of
the band. She is standing at the front of the band and almost
covers 70% of the front cover in order to grab young male’s
attention because of her looks. Also to grab young girls
attention to look like her.
•The band are dressed all in black. This shows the band in
a more elegant and glamorous look
•Cover lines : are mainly positioned in the left side to catch
the buyers attention. The white and red writing contrast with
the black clothing in the picture.

• NME has a simple colour scheme. It uses colours such
