• 14 months of Gaia observations + Tycho2 position
• All sources treated as single stars (5 parameters)

38. TGAS Systematic errors
• A global parallax zero-point error = ±0.04 mas
may be present.
• Over large angular scales, parallax zero-point
variations of ±0.3 mas.
– Averaging parallaxes over small regions of the sky (i.e.
≈10°) will not reduce the uncertainty on the mean
– Over large areas: parallaxes uncertainties = ±σϖ
(random) ±0.3 mas (systematic)
– Only affects the parallaxes
• colour dependent and spatially correlated
systematic errors at the level of ±0.2 mas
