This Standard specifies the safety and interchangeability requirements,
together with the test methods and conditions, required to show compliance
of LED lamps with integrated means of stable operation(self-ballasted LED
lamps), for domestic and similar general lighting purposes, having,
a) a rated wattage up to 60 W.
b) a rated voltage of d.c. supplies up to 250 V or a.c. up to 1000 V at
50 Hz.
c) caps ( as per Table 1 of standard ).

PROTECTION AGAINST ACCIDENTAL CONTACT
Requirements:
Continuity test with standard test finger.
Test with gauges as per IS 15518.
Compliance:
Live parts shall not be accessible in normal use.
Insulation resistance and electric strength
Requirements: Conditioning for 48 hrs. @ 20 -30ºC and
91-95 % RH
Compliance:
Insulation resistance shall not be less than specified.
No flash over or breakdown shall not occur.
FAULT CONDITIONS
Requirements: Fault across electronic components after
Achieving thermal stability.
Compliance:
The lamp shall not catch fire or produce flammable gases and live
parts shall not be accessible.
CREEPAGE DISTANCES AND CLEARANCES
Requirements: Creepage and clearance shall be measured between live
parts of different polarity and between live parts and accessible metal
parts.
Compliance:
Measured value shall not be less than specified.
Creepage shall not be less than clearance.
Thermal safety
Cap temperature rise
Requirements:
The surface temperature rise of a lamp holder fitted to the lamp shall be
measured as per IS 8913.
Compliance:
The measured rise in temperature shall not exceed 120K.
Resistance to heat
Requirements: External parts of insulating
material providing protection against electric
shock and parts of insulating material
retaining live parts shall be sufficiently
resistant to heat.
Compliance: Compliance is checked by means
of ball pressure test.
The diameter of impression shall not exceed
2mm.
Resistance to flame and
ignition
Requirements: External parts of insulating material providing
protection against electric shock and parts of insulating material
retaining live parts shall be sufficiently resistant to flame and ignition.
Compliance: Compliance is checked by means of glow wire test.
Compatibility
Interchangeability
Requirements:
Cap interchangeability, bending moment, axial pull and mass.
Compliance:
Compliance is checked by means of gauges and other necessary
means.
Mechanical Strength
Requirements:
The lamps are subjected to torsion resistance test.
Compliance:
The cap shall remain firmly attached to the bulb.

This Standard specifies the safety and interchangeability requirements, together with the test methods and conditions, required to show compliance of LED lamps with integrated means of stable operation(self-ballasted LED lamps), for domestic and similar general lighting purposes, having, a) a rated wattage up to 60 W. b) a rated voltage of d.c. supplies up to 250 V or a.c. up to 1000 V at 50 Hz. c) caps ( as per Table 1 of standard ).

  • 12. Electrical Safety PROTECTION AGAINST ACCIDENTAL CONTACT Requirements: Continuity test with standard test finger. Test with gauges as per IS 15518. Compliance: Live parts shall not be accessible in normal use.
  • 13. Insulation resistance and electric strength Requirements: Conditioning for 48 hrs. @ 20 -30ºC and 91-95 % RH Compliance: Insulation resistance shall not be less than specified. No flash over or breakdown shall not occur.
  • 14. FAULT CONDITIONS Requirements: Fault across electronic components after Achieving thermal stability. Compliance: The lamp shall not catch fire or produce flammable gases and live parts shall not be accessible.
  • 15. CREEPAGE DISTANCES AND CLEARANCES Requirements: Creepage and clearance shall be measured between live parts of different polarity and between live parts and accessible metal parts. Compliance: Measured value shall not be less than specified. Creepage shall not be less than clearance.
  • 16. Thermal safety Cap temperature rise Requirements: The surface temperature rise of a lamp holder fitted to the lamp shall be measured as per IS 8913. Compliance: The measured rise in temperature shall not exceed 120K.
  • 17. Resistance to heat Requirements: External parts of insulating material providing protection against electric shock and parts of insulating material retaining live parts shall be sufficiently resistant to heat. Compliance: Compliance is checked by means of ball pressure test. The diameter of impression shall not exceed 2mm.
  • 18. Resistance to flame and ignition Requirements: External parts of insulating material providing protection against electric shock and parts of insulating material retaining live parts shall be sufficiently resistant to flame and ignition. Compliance: Compliance is checked by means of glow wire test.
  • 19. Compatibility Interchangeability Requirements: Cap interchangeability, bending moment, axial pull and mass. Compliance: Compliance is checked by means of gauges and other necessary means.
  • 20. Mechanical Strength Requirements: The lamps are subjected to torsion resistance test. Compliance: The cap shall remain firmly attached to the bulb.
  • 21. Radiation safety UV & IR protection (IS 16108/IEC 62471)
