Region VIII (Eastern Visayas)
Division of Leyte
CONALUM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
ON
Rationale
PORTFOLIO DAY is considered a Culminating Resources Activities/
Performances wherein at the end of every quarter, schools are encouraged to
put up exhibits of student/pupil products across subjects or learning areas.
Learners may also do an exhibition of their performances in different subjects
as evidences of their learning or attainment of performance standards. Thus
when parents receive the report card and confer with teachers they will
actually be witnessing what students are learning in school.
The learners' quality products can likewise be sold to stakeholders at
reasonable price so that learners will appreciate the value of their works, they
will be earning while learning (sales will be accepted directly by the
student/pupil product-owner), thus they can gradually internalize
entrepreneurship skills as we are preparing them for Entrepreneurship as of the
Exits of K to 12 Program.
The Regional Portfolio Day is an innovative activity under the
leadership of Dr. Uytico, pursuant to DepEd Order No, 36 s. 2016, entitled
“Policy Guidelines on Awards and Recognition for the K to 12 Basic
Education Program,” and in cognizance of the evidence-based performance
evaluation which is an essential part of the learning process.
Regional Memorandum No. 066, s. 2017 further provides that after the
launching, the conduct of the School-Based Portfolio Day shall be done every
quarter with the following suggested activities: (1) distribution of cards; (2)
parent-teacher-adviser conference; (3) display of pupil/student outputs; and (4)

NARRATIVE REPORT
In cognizance of the evidence-based performance and evaluation which are essential part
of the learning process, Portfolio Day has been institutionalized specifically in region VIII. This
is done a week after the quarterly examinations with suggested activities such as distribution of
cards, parent-teacher-adviser conference, display of pupil/student outputs and PTA meeting.
Since the second quarterly examination is already done, the portfolio day was set on the
28th day of October 2017. Immediate dissemination of the information of the said activity was
done even before the semestral break started. Hard copies of program were sent to the
stakeholders most especially to the parents of Conalum Elementary School.
Part one of the activity was a video viewing for the recently contested Ginoo at
Binibining Iskawt 2017 which raised more or less 15,000. The said video viewing was not
intended for pure entertainment alone but also as a part of showcasing pupils’ performance as
part of their extra-curricular activities.
A short program followed which started with a prayer thru an overture, singing of the
Philippine National Anthem and DepEd Leyte Hymn. The supportive GPTA president, Mrs.
Maricel Busque warmly welcomed everyone and extended her heartfelt gratitude to parents.
Everyone was energized as teachers led the zumba for everyone to move and groove. Then, a
grade 6 pupil rendered his heartfelt song entitled “Tunay na Mahal”. His beautiful voice set the
mood of everybody to listen to the sincere messages of the barangay chairman, Hon. Hartwell M.
Padilla and Kagawad Committee on Education, Hon. Arnesia D. Batohinog. Yolanda B. Yap
then checked the attendance by grade level thru singing a Christmas song. For a school that
adheres to transparency, everyone was well-informed about the financial statement of Canteen,
MOOE and SBFP fund.
Being a principal for two months, Mrs. Gina S. Inocente has proven her dedication to
work and exceptional leadership skills. She had so many accomplishments even for a short span
of time. Parents were happy after hearing her SOSA. Afterwards, selected grade 6 pupils gave an
intermission number. Parents and pupils were even happier and excited as they received their
certificates being honors.
Part three was all about the Gulayan sa Paaralan updates, solid waste management,
planned Tagbo and most importantly being able to revisit AIP/SIP.
Parents and learners headed towards their respective rooms for the signing of the cards,
parent-teacher-adviser conference and witnessing the exhibits for the pupils’ outputs.
