Definition of terms is usually an annex to a work (book, research paper, pamphlet, etc.) either at the beginning or more likely near the end with a list of acronyms, jargon, credits, etc. This is an important part of Research paper or report is that in which the key or important terms in the study are clearly defined.
Types and Functions
CONCEPTUAL
-Is the universal meaning that is attributed to a word or group of words and which is understood by many people.
CONCEPTUAL
It is abstract and most general in nature. The usual source of conceptual definition is the DICTIONARY which is the reference book of everyday language.
OPERATIONAL DEFINITION
-Is the meaning of the concept or term as used in a particular study. Unlike the conceptual definition, it is stated in concrete term in that it allows measurement.
The usual practice when using both types of definition is to state first the conceptual followed by the operational.
FUNCTIONS
FUNCTIONS
It establishes the rules and procedures the investigators will use to measure variables
It provides unambiguous meaning to terms that otherwise can be interpreted in different ways.

A Study on Interest in Mathematics Interest and its Relation to Academic Achi...ijtsrd
In our match towards scientific and technological advancement, we need nothing short of good performance in mathematics at all levels of schooling. In an effort to achieve this, this study investigated the impact of motivation on students' school academic achievement in mathematics in secondary schools using motivation measuring instrument and achievement test in mathematics. Six hypotheses were tested for significant at 0.05 margin of error using t test and analysis of variance ANOVA Results showed that gender difference and Parents Income were significant when impact of motivation on academic achievement was compared in male and female students. Also other result indicates significant difference when extent of motivation was taken as variable of interest on academic achievement in mathematics based on the degree of their motivation. Implications, suggestions and recommendations on students, parents, government, counsellors, educational stakeholders, etc were discussed. Ms. S. Kalpana | Ms. V. A. Increasing Grade 9 Students TLE MPS using a Blended Approach with Manychatijtsrd
The study used Blended Learning and the Manychat application to improve the TLE MPS of Sto Nino National High School Grade 9 students. Purposive sampling was used to select two groups of grade nine students with the lowest MPS. The term blended learning refers to instructional models that combine traditional classroom practice with e learning solutions. Manychat, on the other hand, is a service that allows you to build chatbots for Facebook Messenger. These chatbots have a wide range of applications, including marketing and customer service. The study assessed the performance of Grade 9 Dressmaking students in administering the pre test and post test for both the experimental and control groups. The study also determined whether there is a significant difference in the pre test and post test results for both experimental and conventional groups. In the implementation of the Manychat as an instructional tool in T.L.E. 9 or any subjects interested in the intervention used, an action plan was proposed. The study used a experimental design. Mean, standard deviation, dependent and independent t tests were used to assess the performance of students instructed in the intervention program. The study found that using the Blended Method with Manychat is an effective tool for teaching T.L.E. Dressmaking to grade 9 students. Using the Blended Method, their performance and scores in the pre test and post test had greatly improved. As a result, the study concluded that the Blended Method with Manychat can be used as a tool in teaching TLE for the continuous improvement of proficiency level in TLE subject. June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2012), study motivation and attitudes (Sarwar et.al,
2010) on academic achievement.
22. CHAPTER 1. Rationale
Moreover, a literature review by Nagaraju (2004) pointed
out that, for good academic success, good study habits
and attitudes are important.
National Achievement Test (NAT) are quite dismaying. In
2006 only 25.3%, or only about one-fourth of schools
nationwide, were able to reach the desired 75% cut-off
score in mathematics. The mean percentage score in
math was only 44.

27. FIGURE 1. A conceptual paradigm showing the relationship of
pupils’ mathematics achievement and pupil-related factors.
28. CHAPTER 1. Statement of Problem
This study aims to determine the
relationship between pupil-related factors
such as the interest and study habits in
terms of the achievement in Mathematics
from grade four to six pupils of Inopacan
Central School for the second quarter of
school year 2017-2018.
29. CHAPTER 1. Statement of Problem
Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions:
1. What is the profile of the extent of pupils’ interest and study habits?
2. What is the profile of the level of pupils’ achievement in Mathematics?
3. Is there a significant relationship between pupils’ Mathematics achievement and
3.1 interest, and
3.2 study habits?
4. Is there a significant relationship between study habits and interest towards
Mathematics?
5. What are the factors that affect pupils’ interest and study habits?
6. What strategies/interventions can help increase the interest and develop good
study habits among the learners?
30. CHAPTER 1. Statement of Hypothesis
The following are the null hypotheses of
this study:
1. There is no significant relationship between pupils’
Mathematics achievement and interest.
2. There is no significant relationship between pupils’
Mathematics achievement and study habits.
3. There is no relationship between study habits and interest.
31. CHAPTER 1. Significance of the Study
The result of the study is deemed significant to
the following stakeholders with the following
reasons:
School Administrators
Curriculum Planners
Math Teachers
Pupils
Parents
Future Researchers
32. CHAPTER 1. Scope and Delimitations
* This study covers only Grade four to grade six
pupils and Mathematics teachers of Inopacan
Central School.
*It will be conducted in 2nd Quarter of School year
2017-2018.
35. CHAPTER 3. Review of related Literature
McCleod (1992) said that attitude toward
mathematics is related to mathematics
success in the classroom. Conversely,
student’s achievement can influence a
student’s attitude as well.
36. CHAPTER 3. Review of related Literature
Tata (2013) made his study in Nigeria and came out with
findings that, students’ negative attitude toward
mathematics, fear of mathematics, ineffective teaching
method and inadequate teaching materials were some of
the causes of poor performance in Mathematics.
Developing positive attitude, motivation and proper
guidance toward this subject and provision of relevant
teaching materials could make students perform better
in Mathematics.
37. CHAPTER 3. Review of related Literature
Zachariah Kariuki Mbugua, et.al (2012)’s study on
“Factors Contributing To Students’ Poor
Performance in Mathematics” found out that the
cause of most failures in Mathematics might not be
due to insufficient or inadequate instruction but by
active resistance by the learners. This argument
suggests that favorable attitudes and good study
habit towards Mathematics should be developed
for achievement in the subject to improve.
38. CHAPTER 3. Review of related Literature
Sawar et al. (2009) in their analysis on
“Study Orientation of High and Low
Academic Achievers at Secondary School
Level on Pakistan” revealed that the high
achievers had better study orientation,
study habit than the low achievers.
39. CHAPTER 3. Review of related Literature
According to Zulcarnain,et.al (2000),
students' attitudes need to be fostered
throughout the process of teaching and
learning in order to have a good
achievement.
40. CHAPTER 3. Review of related Literature
Crede and Kuncel (2008) concluded to
establish effective study, students require
study skills, motivation, study habits, and
study attitude.
41. CHAPTER 3. Review of related Literature
Many students are unsuccessful in their
examinations not because they are short of
knowledge or ability, but because they do
not have adequate study habits and study
skills (Menzal, 1982).
42. CHAPTER 3. Review of related Literature
Good students are not
born but are made by
regular and deliberate
practice of fine study
habits for which there is
no alternative.
43. CHAPTER 3. Review of related Literature
According to (Kizlik 2001) development of
good study habits in children depends upon
the collective efforts of parents and
teachers.

A pleasant afternoon to everyone most especially to the beauteous dean of College of Education, Madam Beverly Fernandez…
Before anything else, I would like to thank everyone here in advance for whatever happens today I’m pretty sure it would contribute to the betterment of my research entitled “ THE ROLE OF PUPILS’ INTEREST AND STUDY HABIT ON MATHEMATICAL ACHIEVEMENT”
ALLOW ME INTRODUCE MYSELF….IM RIGINO T . MACUNAY, JR., T-1 OF CONALUM ES , INOPACAN DISTRICT…
It is said that………Mathematics is the cradle of all creations, without which the world cannot move an inch. Be it a cook or a farmer, a carpenter or a mechanic, a shopkeeper or a doctor, an engineer or a scientist, a musician or a magician, everyone needs mathematics in their day-to-day life. Even insects use mathematics in their everyday life for existence. Snails make their shells, spiders design their webs, and bees build hexagonal combs. There are countless examples of mathematical patterns in nature.
SAME GOES TO OUR LEARNERS... Because Mathematics serves as their backbone to achieve and develop the skill in reasoning and thinking level.
What Im showing you next is actually a flag……definitely not ours…and how about this one….What a scenic view!…But please do not be amazed at how that huge that Merlion statue look….or even how tall the buildings are…Be amazed how this country considers Mathematics as just a piece of cake…This country is known as Singapore…….
And clearly their educational system is highly effective, helping to generate outstanding results in international assessments TRENDS IN INTERNATIONAL MATH AND SCIENCE STUDY (TIMSS) and (PISA) PROGRAMME FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ASSESSMENT.
HERE’S THE RESUL FOR THE LATEST TIMSS LAST 2015….
-serves as building blocks or prerequisites to learning higher mathematics…
-this is the reason why elem. Math should mastered and be highly appreciated by the pupils. Or else dilemma comes their way.
One proof that learners are dreadfully performing low is..this…….this is not sumthing new….could have been because of the Study habits and Interest of the learners towards a specific subjects?
But then again, it is still cooperation among stakeholders where this reformation can be best achieved
