2. What is Edmodo?
Edmodo (Similar to Facebook) is regarded as a
social networking site for teachers and
students. It provides a free and secure social
learning space for a class to connect and
collaborate.
3.
4. National Educational Technology
Standards
• Edmodo in my opinion help promotes the following
standard:
– Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
• Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and
learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance
student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and
virtual environments.
b. Engage students in exploring real-world issues
and solving authentic problems using digital tools
and resources
c. Promote student reflection using collaborative
tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual
understanding and thinking, planning, and
creative processes
d. Model collaborative knowledge construction by
engaging in learning with students, colleagues,
and others in face-to-face and virtual environments

7. Teacher Perspective
• “Edmodo looks and feels just like Facebook, so I haven’t had
to spend any time teaching my students how to use it. They
can upload attachments and make comments like champs.”
• “The first thing students say after signing up for Edmodo.com
profiles is, “This looks just like Facebook!” Two minutes
later, like clockwork they say, “This is NOTHING like
Facebook!” And then the room falls silent as they start
personalizing their profiles, writing comments on the class
wall, and uploading ridiculous pictures.”

8. Student Perspective
Students interviewed on this website said the
following:
• “Edmodo’s simplicity in terms of interface is what makes it so
effective”
• “The ability to send homework to the teacher as soon as it’s done”
• “Being able to communicate with the teacher or other students if a
student is struggling with work or requires further guidance”
• Students love the fact that Edmodo is similar to Facebook—a
website that is used to communicate with people all over the world.

10. In Conclusion
• Edmodo is a great website for all teachers and
students. Edmodo will allow all students to
receive assignments, quizzes, etc. either at
home or at school. Edmodo will also allow
students to become familiar with uploading
assignments and taking quizzes online similar
to online college classes.
