1. LONG TERM TARGETS
Look at your initial skills audit and set yourself a long term SMART target for acting, dancing, singing
and one other from the initial skills audit subheadings.
SMART TARGETS – Long Term Target No. 1 – ACTING SKILLS
Specific EXACTLY what is it you
want to achieve (state:
which, who, what,
where, when and why)
What I want to
achieve through my
journey in performing
arts is to learn new
skills.
What I want to achieve throughout the journey in
performing arts is to learn new skills in acting and to
feel confident. I would like to be able to feel
confident in participating in an acting role. I would
like to be able to complete this goal by the end of my
A levels next year and hope to maybe at some point
even take on an acting role. However in our
performances we have a lot of contrast acting
without realising for instance in our hamilton police
we have not a lot of acting as i'm mainly just a
dancer however take part as the ensemble so there's
not so much acting with that however there's more
acting in our cell block tango as we tell a story via
dancing but acting how we have murdered our
husbands
Measurable How will you
demonstrate that your
target has been met?
In order to demonstrate and meet my target I would
need to gain the confidence in being able to take on
an acting role if it is offered. i will know i have met
my goal when i have taken part and experienced an
acting role even if it was a couple of lines. By
showing the cating through our cell block tango we
can use props for instance we use red cloths to show
the murder. If the audience can understand the
storyline that we are trying to tell, that is when I feel
the target would have been met and after the
performance the feeling of accomplishment.
Achievable How will you ensure
this is in your ability?
Are there specific
resources that can
assist you? Can it be
done at all?
to ensure i could do this i would make sure that i
could take on a role that would be suitable for me to
take on. the goal can be achievable if i put my mind
to it it can only be done if i want it to be done for
instance in cell block tango we all have main roles as
we have solo part in the piece as the duration is
about 7 mins which allows us to have a solo and to
be part of the group dance in this piece. I feel as a
performer that I can achieve this.
2. Realistic It should be
challenging but
realistic. Why/how is it
realistic?
It will be challenging as I'm not so confident when it
comes to acting and having to speak on stage in front
of other people, however I feel like I would be able
to do it if I practised lines and went over it enough.
but what i like about the acting throughput cell block
tango is that the acting is done through dance rather
than drama and monologues and scripts as that is my
weak point.

deadline and a reason.
acting would be the last goal i would say as i mainly
focus on dance but i would be happy to give it a go
and take upon an acting opportunity but it wouldn't
be done in the next show as personally i don't think
5 weeks would be enough as that is when the next
showcase is. for a total of amount of time to get all
the pisces doen and the showcase put together that
there'll be enough time, but it is important that are
time management is key in order so we can perform
to the best ability
Review of this SMART target
Have you achieved it? How did you achieve it? When did you achieve it? What difference has it
made to you as an actor?
3. SMART TARGETS – Long Term Target No. 2 – DANCING SKILLS
Specific EXACTLY what is it
you want to achieve
(state: which, who,
what, where, when
and why)
What I want to achieve in dance is to learn new skills,
strengthen my core and increase my stamina. I want
to increase my stamina so I don't look as tired
throughout the showcase and letting the audience
know I'm tired doesn't look professional and if you
haven't got a high enough stamina it can affect the
dance and make it look sloppy. I'd also like to take the
opportunity and focus on a different variety of dance
and learn new skills via that. For instance, when we
dance in hamilton it is very different from how we
would dance when we do our cell block tango from
chicago. the hamilton dance we are performing is
from the” Non stop” it is very different compared to
chicago as chicago is about the women who
murdered there husbands. Cell block tango shows an
audience how and why they killed their husbands and
how they think that what they did was okay. i want to
achieve the best grade and that is a distinction
however i will as an individual will need to make sure
i have lean tall the techniques and choreography
before the showcase
Measurable How will you
demonstrate that
your target has been
met?
By doing this outside of rehearsals I will practise and
go over what I have learnt and go over it to ensure
I'm doing it right. as well as this i will perfect and
choreography that i have learnt that may need
working upon to ensure it is at my best working
ability. My target will be met when I know I would
have felt achieved in the work and efforts I have put
in the performance. Also we can look at other videos
on youtube to get some inspiration and ideas from
others to incorporate ideas into the choreography.the
target will be met when you feel proud of the work
and effort that has been put in the show.
Achievable How will you ensure
this is in your ability?
Are there specific
Taking time out of my own day to rehearse amongst
myself is what will make my goal achievable. By doing
this I could use a couple of my free periods
4. resources that can
assist you? Can it be
done at all?
throughout the day and use a space that is free to
rehearse in what I feel I may need to work upon.
Looking for ideas online can help assist with
choreography and ideas. also taking out pieces from
previous dances to add into the new choreography.
also we haven't been able to do everything the same.
For example in Hamilton they have a revolving stage
where it moves around but we have choreographed
around it to get it as close to it as we could.
Realistic It should be
challenging but
realistic. Why/how is
it realistic?
Personally I don't think this challenge would be
challenging as much as the acting as I'm more
confident with dance as a whole but I'm always open
to trying different genres of dance. Doing different
styles of dances allows me to learn different
techniques which I can use and incorporate into
other times we need to choreograph. however
learning new techniques that may never have been
done before could be a challenge, and if it is too
challenging could adapt around it to make sure it is
suitable for everyone to do.
Time Frame Clearly specifies
target dates, review
dates. It will give a
feasible deadline and
a reason.
Dancing is my key goal so I hope I do the best out of
it, however I would like to do well in all that I am
participating in but dance is my main focus. Having
time goals and keeping up to date with learning new
choreography is key to otherwise as a dancer you
don't want to fall behind and be learning new
choreography when everyone is ready to move on
and it puts the rest behind that is why it is crucial to
try not to miss a rehearsal time.

made to you as a dancer?
5. SMART TARGETS – Long Term Target No.3 – SINGING SKILLS
Specific EXACTLY what is it you
want to achieve (state:
which, who, what,
where, when and why)
singing isn't my strong point however i'm still up to
give it a go in our showcase we are performing the
song seasons of love from rent.i would like to
eventually be able to maybe sound a little bit better
when i sing. by doing this i can do vocal warm ups
before singing to ensure i don't put too much
pressure on the vocal cords. I still want to achieve
the best grade possible even if it is not the highest
grade as I would not be disappointed as I know it's
not my main focus in performing arts. The song is
split into two sides with the high notes and the
lower and we merge the harmonising in that as well.
when we perform the song we do not do a lot other
than sing. We have staged it so we walk on at
different times and through each other to get to our
positions where we will begin to sing. however we
have incorporated movement in the piece to show
we're enjoying what we're doing. wear as the piece
we are doing from hamilton and that is more of a
rap based with lots of ensemble and that is how it is
different to seasons of love.
Measurable How will you
demonstrate that your
target has been met?
The way to measure that I have met my target is that
go for to schools will show my progress and wear
my grades. The go for schools will back up my
attendance to rehearsals as well as it will show
progress throughout my journey of musical theatre.
Also you can see video progress throughout from the
first few lessons to starting to put together a
6. showcase. and all the little workshops we had wore
some of us had never snagged properly and
harmonised. as well we did vocal warm ups to have
the knowledge of knowing that it is vital to warm up
vocally before singing as you can damage vocal cords
and strain your voice. to then be able to sing a song
in the showcase.
Achievable How will you ensure
this is in your ability?
Are there specific
resources that can
assist you? Can it be
done at all?
I will ensure I will do this by doing a vocal warm up
before singing to ensure that I do not damage my
vocal cords. By doing this I can do little simple
exercises with straws and tissue. I can do this by
putting the straw to my lips and blowing the straw in
a rhythm.
Realistic It should be
challenging but
realistic. Why/how is it
realistic?
It can be challenging for a lot of us in singing as
there's only 3 in the class that have singing as one as
the focus in performing arts but everyone else is
giving it a go even if it isn't there which shows
resilience. although for some of us who don't sing it
can be quite challenging but because not everyone
can hit the same notes we have incorporated a 3
harmonies

having a plan to map out what we need to do as a
class and as individuals to get your target. you can
make a plan out when you need to learn things by
and what u have left to do before the show would
start. for instance planning costumes in putting the
showcase in row order

made to you as a singer ?
7. SMART TARGETS – Long Term Target No. 4 –
stamina
Specific EXACTLY what is it you
want to achieve (state:
which, who, what,
where, when and why)
My goal is to increase my stamina for dancing. This
will help as our showcase contains part two long
dance routines cell block tango and hamilton and
they are both roughly 7 minutes each. We need to
have a high stamina for the show as we have 10
pieces in the show. We also need stamina as well as
breath control not just for dancing but for singing
too.
Measurable How will you
demonstrate that your
target has been met?
I will incorporate any knowledge I have learnt along
the way by using new skills in the choreography to
better it. aso using new skills I have learnt to
increase my stamina by going to new tasks in the
gym when working out and having a better diet . I
will know the target his been met as my stamina
would have increased and you would be able to see
the progress alone the way with videos
Achievable How will you ensure
this is in your ability?
Are there specific
resources that can
assist you? Can it be
done at all?
my long term target was to increase stamina as well
as technique and movement I’d like to be able to
learn and gain new knowledge of skills by doing this I
can incorporate new things we have learnt to
sumggest putting into choreography as suggestions
and however to increase stamina can be done by
simply going to the gym and eating healthy and even
going for walks to. In order for me to achieve this i
would need to make sure I’m keeping my self active
and for and healthy
8. Realistic It should be
challenging but
realistic. Why/how is it
realistic?
realistically it shouldn’t be to challenging as it’s
simple things to increase the stamina like walking
more or going for a run or if want to increase it
higher for a better stamina going to the gym and
having the right balanced diet will do it therefore it is
quieter realistic if u want to do it.
Time Frame Clearly specifies target
dates, review dates. It
will give a feasible
deadline and a reason
Having a time frame will help plan out when as a
performer can fit time to do stamina exercises to
increase and maintain the strength in order to go on
through the show this will help map out when can fit
in times to go for a run or to the gym.
