3. Which stories have you researched and looked
as potential starting points?
• Any tales to do with SCP 001 - When Day Breaks
• God of War: The Lost Pages
• Crunch – SCP 173
• SCP 2718 – What Comes After

4. Which research into existing products has been the
most useful? Includes examples and explanations
• Other readings of SCP files by “SCP Illustrated” on YouTube as they also
included background noise and sound effects, similar to what I was aiming
to do with this project. There are a few examples of his work linked below.

5. Which production format [drama, narration,
etc] do you feel fits your idea best and why?
• I feel like a simple narration style piece fits the ideas best as the SCP files
are usually registered as one person writing them anyway.

6. Which story have you settled on and why?
• I settled on SCP 2718 – What Comes After because I thought “When Day
Breaks” was too long and couldn’t properly be condensed. And while “The
Lost Pages” was my favourite idea, the requirement of it being a horror
story generally rules out those tales, as well as the length of the script
required.

7. If you had to sell your story quickly, what is the
title and the logline?
• What Comes After: A harrowing recount of the experience of the afterlife,
where your body continues to feel all the pain as it is devoured and
decomposed.

8. What ideas have you had for sound effects,
narration and storytelling?
• Celery for bones breaking, pillowcase for birds. The story is told by an
administrator at their desk, so a lot of the sounds I can make fairly easily in
my recording station. I plan to do a lot of the narrative focus with my voice,
shifting tone when necessary and really getting into the role.

9. Initial feelings…how do you feel about the
project currently?
• I feel a little more worried about this task than the music video one as not
only do I feel like it’s a little out of my comfort zone, but also that my ideas
have been more limited, as I don’t often watch horror movies or listen to
horror stories in general, so I don’t have the same grasp on the concept as I
otherwise might.

10. What other research do you think you need to
do?
• I think I could do more research on how sound effects are created
professionally, as Foley is an entirely new concept for me. Also potentially
branching out into the kind of horror audio documentaries I listen to in
preparation to maybe get some new ideas.
