1. Keep the type of information needed by the
audience in mind The agricultural information
needed by the farmers is of six types
• What to do
• When to do
• Where to get
• How to do
• Why to do
• Whom to contact
2 Analyze the potential audience in terms of
previous background and attitude
3 Keep in mind that you are talking to a small
group of farmers who cannot stop you to ask
questions or seek clarifications but switch off

relevant to the season, suitable for different
agroclimatic conditions of the area,
practicable and within the means of the
farmers.
• Collect detailed up-to-date information
about the topic from all reliable sources
• Process the information in a systematic way
The processing of information
includes following four steps
a Arrest attention of the listeners: The first 30
seconds of the broadcast are very critical
You are dealing with the free and not the captive
audience
Appeal the needs and problems of the audience
and explain how the information can be
beneficial to them
b Hold attention of the listeners: throughout the
talk by using witty words, local examples and
proverbs and by appealing to their emotions
c Run down the information: clearly,
interestingly and briefly in a proper
sequence
d Fire imagination: by presenting a picture of a
situation likely to emerge after the listeners
act on the given information
6 The script should be brief, clear and awaken
the attention and interest of the audience
7 write the script with empathy i.e. keeping the
feelings of the audience in mind
8 Write brief introduction about the topic and
do not include too many information
9 Write one or two ideas in one paragraph
10 Develop the ideas slowly and spread them
throughout the talk
11 Use simple words, local language, short sentences
and avoid technical words
Underline the words to be emphasizes
12 Use punctuation and put life in to your talk through
pause, volume and pitch
13 Divide the time allotted among the different ideas
you want to present and limit the length of your talk
accordingly For interview, write questions and
develop answers to them
• Handover the questions to the interviewer and
repeat the important details
Delivering the Script

front of the mirror
