Organization Structure in SAP Plant Maintenance

• Maintenance Plant
 A physical location within the company, where maintenance is
performed
 The maintenance plant for a technical object is the plant at which it is
installed
 Maintenance plants which do not plan their own maintenance are
assigned to maintenance planning plants

Maintenance Planning Plant
 Place in which maintenance tasks are planned and prepared
 Each maintenance plant can function as a separate planning plant
 The maintenance planning plant for a technical object is the plant in which
the maintenance tasks for the object are planned and prepared

Concept of Plants
Maintenance Plant (“Plant”) Planning Plant
Example:
Service Operations (plant : 4409)
The maintenance planning plant of a technical object is
the plant in which the maintenance tasks for the object
are planned and prepared.
Maintenance planner groups work at the maintenance
planning plant to plan and prepare the maintenance
tasks.
The following activities are performed at the maintenance
planning plant:
· Definition of task lists
· Material planning based on bills of material in task
lists and orders
· Management and scheduling of maintenance plans
· Creation of maintenance notifications
· Execution of maintenance orders
Example:
Service Operations Head Quarters
The maintenance plant of a technical object is the plant
at which it is installed.
Planning Plant will handle the Planning Activities for
the Maintenance Plant(s) assigned to the particular
Planning Plant
One Maintenance Plant can be assigned to only one
Planning Plant
One Planning Plant can have multiple Maintenance
Plant Assigned to it

Planner Group
Responsible for the planning and processing of maintenance for the respective
maintenance plants allocated to the planning plant
Work Centers
Define where or by whom an operation is carried out within a maintenance plant
Can represent a machine, group of machines, person, or group of people
One work center can be allocated per portal or preparation plant

1. Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:

2. Choose New Entries.
3. On the following screen, make the following entries:

allows a plant to be classified according to spatial or situation criteria.
