This document provides an overview of an information session for students commencing at Deakin College in Trimester 1, 2023. It includes details about online and on-campus study modes, course durations, timetables, enrolling and completing personal details, accessing the student portal and Moodle, IT support, booklists, transferring to Deakin University, and support services available from learning advisors and mentors. Students are provided instructions on logging in to their student portal account, updating their profile, and accessing course outlines and resources through Moodle.

Overview of the Information Session
4. Standard timetable (Online)
• Online study is only available for domestic students
• Deakin College Online will provide students with increased flexibility. Content is provided via the
Deakin College Learning Management System - Moodle
• Recorded content, classroom notes, readings, activities and assessments will all be available online
• To enhance the flexibility of the online mode, we are replacing the four hours of online classes with
one session per unit, per week
• This session will be an optional one hour and will be delivered via Zoom with a Deakin College
teacher facilitating each session which we strongly recommend
Study Modes Available
5. • The normal course duration is three trimesters (12
months).
• To complete the course in 12 months, 8 units will be
studied over 3 trimesters.
• To be considered a full-time student you must enroll in
at least 3 Units.
• As a domestic student you can enrol in a minimum of 1
unit and a maximum of 4 units each trimester.
• You must complete all 8 units (6 for Engineering) before
you can transfer.
• OPT IN/OUT – You can Opt In or Opt Out every Trimester.
You cannot switch during the trimester and you CANNOT
combine some units ONCAMPUS and some ONLINE – Its
ONE mode or the OTHER

• This will indicate your class time, teacher and room location

Classes commence Monday 27 February
• We offer online or on-campus study
• International students must select on-campus study
• Domestic students will be able to select either online or on-campus
when enrolling
• Online study will consist of videos, activities, reading materials, lecture
and tutorial content, to be watched or read in your own time. A one-
hour live session per unit will be held each week with your teacher.

If using mobile, you will need to click on the 3 bars on the top left-hand side
17. The Personal Details tab will be highlighted.
Click ‘Edit’ complete/update the details and save.
You must complete all the tabs at the top of the screen.
• “Year of arrival in this country” under the Regulatory tab,
indicate the current year if you are yet to arrive
• “Mobile (cellphone) number” under the Contact Details tab,
please include country code (+61) and remove the 0 from the
start of your Australian mobile number, for example
+61401000111. If you do not have an Australian mobile number,
enter +61 followed by 9 digits, for example +61000000000
• “Permanent Home Address” under the Contact Details tab,enter
your long-standing home address, where you can be reached by
mail.
Once you have completed/updated information in all the tabs, save
and close the screen.
