Where did the Vikings come
from?
The Vikings come from Norway, Sweden and
Denmark.
Who were the Vikings?
The vikings were pirates. Pirates were seamen, robber who attacks , seize or
destroyed any ship at high seas,criminal violence and sometimes even harbors at
the shore.
When did they invade Britain?
The Vikings invaded Britain in AD 793.The first place the Vikings raided in Britain
was the monastery at Lindisfarne.A small holy island located off the northeast
coast of England.
Alfred the great and Danelaw.
Alfred the great was the king of the Anglo-Saxons ,Vikings come to invaded the
Anglo-Saxons.But Alfred and Vikings made a treaty.The Vikings were living in an
area called the Danelaw, where the were allowed she followed Vikings customs
and obey the danes law.
Why did the Vikings invaded Britain?
Most of the Vikings were simply searching for better land for their farms.Their land
was not very good for growing crops or rearing animals:Norway was very hilly
,Sweden was covered in forest and Denmark had a lot of sandy soil.
Where did the Vikings settle in Britain?
Most of the Vikings settle in Danelaw , to the north and east of England.
Some Norwegian Vikings or ´norse´ sailed to Scotland.They
madre settlements in the north,and on the Shetland and Orkney islands
.
What did they eat and drink?
They ate vegetables,Wild nuts,berries herbs,leaves,grains to make bread porridge,fruits
also they ate wild animals,fish,eggs,domesticated animals and honey from bees.
What religion Vikings follow?
They were pagans and they follow many gods and goddesses.The religión was a
important of everyday life.
The Vikings built their houses from local material such a wood, stone or blocks of
turf.They lived in long rectangular houses made with upright timbers (wood)
were made of wattle (woven sticks, covered with mud to keep out the wind
and rain
What were Vikings houses and villages?
What were Vikings clothes like?
Viking clothes were made from wool, linen and animal skins.
The Vikings were skilful weavers and made their own clothes. Women, with the
help of children, made the wool into yarn and used natural dyes from plants to
give it colour.
Men wore tunics and trousers and women wore a long dress with a pinafore over
it. Their clothes were fastened with belts and brooches.
Mention some gods they follow
One was Odin the leader of the gods.he was gods of magic,poetry and war.His
wife was Frigg.
Another was Thor (tor in Scandinavian language)was the god of the thunder.Thor
had iron gloves, a magic belt and a hammer. He was also god of protection. He
provided protection from cold hunger, giants and other dangers.
Finally was Freyj (Frej in Swedish) god of agriculture and fertility. Grey was
worshipped on a regular basis all through out the year for future prosperity. He
was the twin of Freyja (goddess of love and fertility). Freyj wept golden tears
when she was unhappy.
Mention two funny facts about the Vikings
One is that areas of Scandinavia were ruled by Chiefains,the Chiefains were
supported by warriors who would fight in battle for them,warriors expected land
and treasures as a reward for combat. This person is a warrior Viking
Another is Odin sat in a throne above earth were he
could see all,he had two ravens who reported to him,
they were called Hungin and Mungin(Thought and
Memory)

Grey was worshipped on a regular basis all through out the year for future prosperity. He was the twin of Freyja (goddess of love and fertility). Freyj wept golden tears when she was unhappy.
