Who were them? what was their daily life about?
The Anglo-Saxons were a group of farmer-warriors
who lived in Britain over a thousand years ago.
Made up of three tribes who came over from Europe,

tribes. They were fierce people, who fought many
battles during their rule of Britain – often
fighting each other.
Here are some pictures
What were Anglo-Saxon villages like?
Many villages were built near rivers because the
Anglo-Saxons were good sailors.A high wooden
fence would be built around a village to protect
it from wild animals like: wolves, foxes and boars.
Anglo-Saxon houses were rectangular huts made of
wood with roofs thatched with straw.
What did the
Anglo-saxons eat and drink?
They ate a mix of vegetables, including onions,
peas, parsnips, and cabbage. Their favourite meats
included deer and wild boar, which they roasted
over a fire in the middle of their houses. They ate
their meat with bread and washed their meal down
with beer, rather than water.
What did Anglo-Saxons believe in?
Anglo-Saxons were superstitious and
believed in lucky charms. They thought
that rhymes, potions, stones and jewels
would protect them from evil spirits or
sickness.
Where do the names of the days of the week
originate from?
Saturday, Sunday and Monday are named after the
celestrial bodies, Saturn, Sun and Moon, but the
other days are named after Germanic gods, Tuesday
(Tiw's day), Wednesday (Woden's day), Thursday
(Thor's day) and Friday (Freya's day).
Who came to Britain after the Anglo-Saxons ?
This unified kingdom even survived the
invasion of the Danish king Canute.
However, after the English King Edward
the Confessor died without heir, William,
Duke of Normandy (known as the Conqueror),
invaded England from there and defeated
the Anglo-Saxons at the Battle of Hastings
in 1066
