1. Cinematography
Establishing shot- Where the film is set: location. Also gives a time
period. Usually a piece of landscape.
Wide shot (WS) - A shot that is wide usually has a person in it. Tells us
wherethe person is to give us more information.
Medium shot (MS) – Showing a person middle upwards or middle
downwards. So itonly shows theimportant part.
Medium closeup- To show moreemotion, showing head and shoulders
if it’s a person.
Close up (CU) - Usually to show something significant.
2. Extreme close up- If it’s a person justeyes, to highlight emotion or to
add tension.
Point of view shot- When you show a person’s pointof view, adding a
body part of the person so the audience know.
Over the shoulder shot- The camera man is standing behind the person
looking over their shoulder. This is to make the audience feel like you
are there.
3. Two shot- Two people in a shot.
Shot reverseshot- whereyou go from one person to the next and back
and forth. Has to obey 180 degree rule: only camera on one half from
different angles.
Low angle shot- get down on the floor and point camera up at the shot.
Used to make the people look morepowerful.
High angle shot- Camera is up high, used to make people look weak.
