WHAT IS YOUR GENDER?
• To assure our research was carried out fairly, we decided to give the 6 out of the 10
questionnaires to a male audience due to our film trailer being mainly targeted at a
young male audience, therefore we concluded that their responses had the highest
importance.

Half of responders were between the ages of
16-19 years old, whereas only one responder
was 24 or over.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU WATCH FILMS?

From the questionnaire it is apparent that 48%
of responders watch films more than once a
week, revealing they have a clear interest in films
as well as the number being larger than once a
week and not often.
Additionally, it suggests that many young
people spend free time viewing films.

psychological thrillers which is the
same genre as our trailer.
Additionally, 0 of responders said
they preferred an ‘other’ genre,
suggesting that the young
responders prefer more
mainstream and common genres
WHAT CERTIFICATE ARE YOU MORE
LIKELY TO WATCH?
The certificate with the highest respondents is 15.
This could suggest that responders are comfortable
with this rating and do not feel like the themes such
as violence are not potentially uncomfortable to the
viewer. None of the responders said that they are
more likely to watch a PG or 12A, suggesting that
they wish for themes they are older and less

Responders had watched at least one of
the films included such as Fight Club and
Shutter island. The films, Altered Minds,
Shutter Island, and The Shinning had the
highest rating of 4 responders viewing
each of these films suggesting they are
well known and liked.
DID YOU ENJOY THE FILMS YOU HAD
WATCHED, IF SO WHY?

From the questionnaire results, it is evident that
80% of responders enjoyed viewing the films
suggesting that they enjoyed the thriller and
psychological genre of these films.
Responders also stated that the films they had
watched were interesting as well as had a good
story line which is therefore vital to assure a film
is successful.
WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IN VIEWING
THE FILM WITH THE FOLLOWING PLOT?
’ A teenage boy is a victim of bullying which
has led to depression, anxiety and paranoia.
This has resulted in the character becoming
friends with an imaginary friend who comforts
him but also makes him seek revenge leading
to the death of some classmates’
Over half of responders stated yes, which
suggests that the majority would be interested
in the film trailer.

respondents use social media to view film
trailers. Additionally, 3 responders use
YouTube potentially due to being easy and
accessible. Furthermore, none of the
responders stated that they view trailers at
the cinema suggesting that due to their
younger age they potentially don’t
commonly use the cinema as well as being
able to afford it regulary.

should last, therefore suggesting that
if it was any longer, interest could be
lost. Additionally, 2 responders
believed that a trailer should last for 1
minute or less as well as another 2
responders believing it should last 2
minutes which is roughly the most
common trailer duration.

It is evident that the plot of a film is the
most significant factor which attracts an
audience. Furthermore, it is also key that the
cast is also well known for example due to
33% of responders stating this makes them
want to view a film after the trailer.
Additionally 0 responders beloved the
soundtrack had any significance, suggesting
that they potentially are not aware of the
sounds used or are unfamiliar which is vital
factor to the trailer.
