1. In what ways does your media productuse develop challenge
forms and conventions ofrealmedia products?
My magazine tried to follow the convention of my genre of music magazines, but at
times challenged it. To show this convention I used the magazine Vintage Life, which
may not be a music magazine but still follows the convention that vintage magazines
follow.
Withthese twomagazines,we see thatthe conventionsare followedquitewell withthe magazine.
We see thatthe Vintage magazine onthe lefthasthe ideaof the title at the top of the page, as does
mine,butI challengedthe conventionbyputtingthe tagline abovethe title insteadof belowthe title
as the example magazine does.Ialsoplacedthe mainheadlineinthe bottomcentre areaof the
page,the same as the example magazine has. The locationof the pricingandthe barcode are on
opposite sidesof the magazine oneachof the pictures,whichchallengesthe conventionof the
magazines.Mymagazine followsthe trendof smallerwritingforthe lessimportanttextthanthe
mostimportanttextbeinginbiggersizedwriting.
