3. Conclusion
The mood board shows the various different types of rock magazines in the industry, they have
been chosen because my magazine is also in this specific genre. The mood board shows the
different types of layout designs to help me establish what layout would be most suited to my
magazine. All of the magazines show a main image, therefore it will more likely also be on my
front cover to attract the attention of the reader and also it is necessary for an anchoring image
of a well known person of that specified genre. All of the magazines include a masthead of their
name; this will also be done for my own magazine to have a continuous recognitions of the
magazine name.
The colour schemes used for all of these magazines, is dark colours such as black, red and white,
which are bland and direct colours which can be easily recognisable to catch the audiences
attention. This also may be considered for my own magazine because these colours give an
indication of what genre the magazine is and who the magazine is targeted at because of my
target audience of, 16-18 year olds; as usually for a younger generation light colours would be
used such as pinks, yellows and light blues. All of the magazines include a cover story to
encourage the reader to purchase the magazine as it includes a variety of different stories that
relate to the magazine and these stories will also be able to be mentioned in the contents page of
the magazine which will include page references to quickly allow the reader to find the story that
is desired.
