Duties & Responsibilities with Summary of Skills (As Welding inspector)
Welding inspection of fabrication pipe spool like as a pipe to pipe joint pipe to fitting
(elbow, tee, socket, Weld let, reducer, flange etc.) fit up and welding inspection of
before welding, during welding and after welding.
Prior for welding
obtain all relevant documentations, specification, procedures, copies of welders, test
certificates, ensure correct material type condition, size pipe/plate, correct
consumables’ type, condition, size (filler materials, gas inserts), correct equipment’s,
certified where necessary, correct preheat (where applicable) access/measure fit up root
face, root gap, alignment and joint cleanness.
During welding
Check amperage, voltage, polarity and gas flow rate. Ensure correct welding technique
(welding direction, run sequence), ensure adequate Inter pass temperature ensure
4. adequate cleaning between passes, check root internally (pipes) where access point.
After welding
Ensure weld id post cleaned, visual inspection of weld area for ARC strikes, CAP under
cuts, surface porosity, CAP height, width etc.
Preparation of RT assessment report.MT/PT witness Weld repair verification.
Reviewed and witness of PWHT, Hardness test report, PMI testing etc
Conduct of WPQT, PQR run test, Knowledge of welder qualification test
Well conversant with all aspects of Surveillance & Inspection procedures for construction of

• Blotter test for compressed air contamination as per ASTM D 4285.
• Chloride test for abrasives (Elcometer 134 chlor test).
• Moisture on blasted surface as per ISO 8502-8.
• Nozzle pressure test (Hypodermic needle gauge.)
• Rust grade as per ISO 8501-1, BS 7079 & SIS 05-59-00.
• Preparation grade as per ISO 8501-1 (St 2, St 3, Sa 1, Sa 2, Sa 2.5, Sa 3)
