Time to share and support a learning
opportunity with your child, and to

Starts at 2.15pm and finishes at
2.45pm, when adults will leave to give
children time to tidy up and get ready

9. Literacy
Literacy applied in different areas of curriculum
Active Literacy used throughout the school
Spelling – Children focus on a set of words each week. Will be
available for children to take home if they feel they need extra
practise.
Handwriting – Letter formation is very important. Weekly handwriting
lessons.
Writing – Focus on writing skills across genres. Peer and self-
evaluation used to develop ability to self-check.
Reading – comprehensions skills, not just fluency. Reading homework
will be set weekly. Encourage reading for enjoyment too!
