Key Idea:
Using retrieval practice grids to encourage students in Key Stage Three to recall and retain
previous learning.
Ways you can do this in your classroom:
• Use the grid to set students a points based challenge to check/test them into recapping
their learning
• Use as a starter at the beginning of a new term / unit to recall previous learning prior to
moving on
• Use at the end of a unit of work to check their knowledge / understanding
• Get students to create their own grids
• Build grids around transferable skills you want them to
