2. From my answers to the first question
regarding age I can gather that the
information gained from my survey will be
valid in terms of what I am aiming to create
within my music magazine, as the majority of
people whom answered come under the
bracket of my target age group (16-20).
3. The results from this question showed that 68.10% of people who answered my
survey were female. Which is helpful considering that I have decided to focus my
music magazine at a predominantly female audience due to its sensational nature.
There for the information drawn from my survey will all be relevant.
4. From the answers retrieved from this question I came to the conclusion that I would
like to create a pop/chart music magazine. This is due to the fact that it is clearly a
universal genre and the most popular.
5. The evidence from this question showed that 73% of those who answered it do not
currently read a current music magazine. This information is vital to have discovered
prior to planning questions to ask in my qualitative research, as the whole point of my
magazine is that it will be enticing and engaging to young people ,so I will need to fiend
out exactly what they feel current publications within this sub-genre are lacking for
them. Considering that the vast majority of responses to my survey came from the age
group I am focusing on this general lack of interest in music magazines can be seen as
reliable evidence.
6. The answers to this question were all fairly neutral with two gaining the same number
of votes and one only two above them. It is clear from this answer that I should find a
balance between all of them, perhaps having the simple cover I had planned, with
splashes of vibrancy throughout but in a subtle way, and including some text within a
few brief subheadings.
7. It is very clear from the results for this question that the majority of people who
completed the survey would like to see short bold phrases and quotes on the cover,
which I will incorporate following the colour scheme and all in a very simplistic font to
go with the style of the magazine. By doing this I will be mimicking the nature of
gossip magazines aimed at my audience, adapting it to my music sub-genre and still
maintaining s sophisticated feel similar to other publications within the same category
such as Billboard and Mixmag.
8. Although the answers to this question showed the male option as the personal
featured on the cover, I think that I will be more likely to use a female, due to the fact
that many popular music magazines use both genders and have the same appeal to
readers and also form my results it is shown that responses for female were not
dramatically lower.
9. As the current gossip magazine which appeal to young people create, it was shown by
the responses to this question that articles containing large images and little text
proves to be more popular, therefore as intended my magazine will be mimicking this
style.
10. As I had assumed my audience consisting of mainly young people said that they
preferred to read more colloquial/conversational language, as this is more engaging
and dynamic, therefore better engaging their attention when seeking only a light read
and to find out the latest gossip surrounding their favorite chart artists.
11. Again a higher percentage opted in favor of the more colloquial, relaxed approach.
However the other option of a more factual and detailed nature of articles was not far
behind so therefore I will aim to strike a balance between the two.
