3. What is SustainableDevelopmentGoals (SDG)
• Collection of 17 global goals set by the UN General
Assembly in 2015.
• Also known as global goals that have been being leaded
by UNDP
• universal call to action to end poverty, protect the
planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and
prosperity by 2030.

6. Introductionto affordable and clean
energy (goal-7)
• The environment provides a series of renewable and
non-renewable energy sources
• Lack of access to energy supplies and transformation
systems is a constraint to human and economic
development
• Increased use of fossil fuels without actions to mitigate
greenhouse gases will have global climate change
implications
• Maintaining and protecting ecosystems allow using and
further developing hydropower sources of electricity
and bioenergy.

7. Facts and figures of energy
• One in 7 people still lacks electricity.
• it produces around 60 percent of greenhouse gases.
• 3 billion people rely on polluting and unhealthy fuels
for cooking.
• 20 percent of power was generated through renewable
sources.
• Efficient using of energy could reduce 14 percent
consumption of energy in electricity industry.
Mohammad Rahmatullah
9. What are the problemsto attain goal-7
• 3 billion people rely on wood, coal, charcoal or animal
waste for cooking and heating
• Energy is the dominant contributor to climate change,
accounting for around 60 per cent of total global
greenhouse gas emissions
• Since 1990, global emissions of CO2 have increased by
more than 46 per cent.
• Hydropower is the largest single renewable electricity
source today, providing 16% of world electricity at
competitive prices
• Bioenergy is the single largest renewable energy source
today, providing 10% of world primary energy supply.

10. How the goal-7can be achieved
• Increasing energy efficiency in the industry, buildings
and transport sectors
• Progressively reducing the use of the inefficient coal-
fired power
• Increasing investment in renewable energy
technologies
• Gradually phasing out fossil-fuel subsidies to end-
users by 2030
• Reducing the methane emissions arising from oil and
gas production

11. Goal-7in the perspectiveof Bangladesh
• Bangladesh is one of the top climate vulnerable
country among 48 nations
• It is facing the impact of climate change such as
rising sea levels, increase of salinity, heavy
rainfall, floods, and landslides
• At present, about 72% of the total population has
access to electricity in Bangladesh
• its power generation is mainly depended on
imported fossil fuel and natural gas.
• The present government has successfully
increased electricity generation Mahadi Hasan Shawon
12. • Bangladesh is blessed with year round sunshine (over 300
days per year)
• It has made significant progress in the rural renewable energy
development by installing SHS in the off-grid areas
