Within this advert they might be advertising towards the male and female
audience, they man within the poster is wearing a suit with a city
background, therefore suggesting he may be successful. This would
appeal to men as they would come to the conclusion that if they
wear this fragrance that they will be successful as well. It may also
appeal to females as they have used a good looking actor, maybe
appealing to the female-gaze and pushing women to buy the
fragrance for their partners. Hugo boss builds is brand image
around masculinity so this poster reinforces the suggestion that
wearing the fragrance will make you more masculine due to the
placing of the man wearing the suit looking series with the
backdrop.
This advert from jimmy choo is still targeting men but through a
much different strategy. Firstly they make use of the male gaze
with the women sitting on the mans shoulder, this would generally
catch a males eye when the see the poster. Secondly the use the
man within the picture as a metaphor. “If you wear this fragrance
you can have a woman on your shoulder like me”, that is the connection
that jimmy choo are pushing for. This therefore may sway men to
purchase the fragrance
Chanel has targeted females in order to sell this product to males,
this has been achieved through the use of female gaze, as the
man within the picture is topless women might be more draw to this fragrance,
furthermore they may purchase the fragrance as they want their
partner to be more like the guy on t
2. Mont blanc have decided on a sophisticated design in order to mirror brand
values and to improve their brand image. The black and white contrast
adds smartness to the poster and therefore suggesting that the fragrance is for
a more “upper class” person. Many people may be attracted to this as they want
to be more successful etc and may see the start of that as wearing this
fragrance.
