1. Animal Adaptations
Lesson 3: Animal Groups: How Animals Live Together
In this lesson, students review the animal
adaptations that we learned in the two previous
lessons (camouflage, defense mechanism) and
then we discuss if animals use teamwork. Students
review the research process (presearch, research)
and then we read parts of the book Animal Groups:
How Animals Live Together by Etta Kaner to
answer our research question. I pair the reading of
this story with photographs of the animal group
being discussed in the book so the students can
better see and understand how each animal group
works together. I read selected sections of the book
up to page 16.
