This document outlines props, locations, and costumes to be used in a music video about a couple whose relationship is affected by the boy moving away. Props like a Fiat Panda car, picnic blanket, and train ticket will be used to represent the passage of time and the couple's separation. Locations like a house, field, and supermarket provide familiar settings. Costumes like casual, light clothing and a darker jumper are chosen to reflect the characters' emotions.
2. Props
Fiat Panda
We will use this car to to help the audience understand
how time moves on during our music video. This prop will
be used throughout the piece. It represents travelling and
distance.
Picnic blanket
This is quite a significant prop because it is used in the
present and in flashbacks, linking the content together.
It’s a useful prop as it shows the audience that they are
on a date.
A train ticket
This item represents the idea of moving away and the
couple being separated. It a way to communicate the
narrative to the audience, when the boy tells the girl
he is moving. Using this prop will let the audience
interpret the signifier in their own individual way.
3. Props
Cider Can
We will use this when the couple are spending their last
night together, it represents youth and having fun to the
audience. It is a stereotypical object that is associated with
young people.
Eggs
These will be used in the scene where the couple are
egging a building, it represents the teenagers
stereotypical rebellious and fun behavior.
Marshmallows and Campfire
These will be used when the couple are in front of the
fire on their last night together. We chose to use these in
our video as it conventional activity associated with
young people enjoying themselves and campfires.
4. Location
House and field
They are typical locations that audience can relate to, this
is effective as the audience can connect to the characters.
We use a mixture of these locations throughout the piece
because of the use of cross-cutting and flashbacks.
The field is a good location has it is isolated and we can
build a fire here, it is also a private location so the
audience is focused on the characters and narrative.
Supermarket
Again this is a typical location the audience can relate to,
we will only use this for a small part of our piece, when
they are buying eggs. It represents they are ordinary
people, it is significant as it leads on to the couple
‘egging’, it completes the narrative.
5. Costumes
Casual Clothing
Both the girl and boy will be wear casual
clothes in the scene when they are
enjoying their last night together. White
and light clothing will represent their
happiness together and their innocence.
Dark Jumper
In the scenes when the boy is shown
leaving the clothes will be darker
representing and reflecting the feelings
felt by the characters.
