The document summarizes the plans for a music video for P!nk's song "The Great Escape." It describes three key scenes: 1) A girl in a forest representing the song's beginning; 2) The girl in an emotional state in a bathtub to show the song's emotion; 3) The girl taking pills on the floor to relate to the song's lyrics. It also discusses the characters, locations, and individual roles of the group members in creating the video.
2. THE NARRATIVE
The main storyline within the song is about how the artist P!NK sings about her
heartbreak as the song is based around a love story for her fans to relate to. The song is very
powerful and emotional as she sings about situations she finds herself in because of a
broken heart. For example she sings about taking pills which many people could resort to
abusing from being so broken and as a last resort. This then gave us the idea to take her
song and break it down making a storyline to relate it back to the song.
We firstly wanted to film a young girl in a forest like area to show it being tranquil and
neutral as the song starts off soft and slow. We then wanted to take the girl from the forest
and into an indoor scene making it more interesting.
As the song was so emotional we wanted to try and show this through body language and
movements and so we filmed the girl in a bath tub showing her to be an emotional wreck
relating the emotion displayed to the song, linking the two together.
Another way of linking the song to the actions was by then filming the girl sitting on the floor
with pills taking them irresponsibly, this then relating to the lyrics of the song and then
performing them as the lyrics are sung. However amongst all of this we have another scene
of the girl in a black room as the girl sings the focus is on her and her lip singing as she is
not lip singing in the other scenes but performing along with the song. This is all then put
together as our storyline.
3. CODES AND COVENTIONS
*white dress
*black clothing*breaking glass- This is a scene where we will use slow motion to show the process of
breaking the glass ; it is to represent the broken relationship in an abstract way
*Ring- A ring have the conventions of promise and future however, the male
character will be given the ring back to the female character which has shown the
relationship is over and the promise they made is also broken.
*There will be props such as pills and medical equipment which is show the affect of
the broken relationship and the illness that the female character got after all. We
would set the pills over the sink randomly to create that messy look as well as
showing mental illness.
4. CHARACTERS
Our song we have chosen is based around a broken love story so for
the character we chose to use a young girl as it is stereotypical that
young girls battle with love stories while they are young before they
find the perfect match when as they get older.

6. LOCATION
For one of our main scene, our group have decided to keep our location local which helps us to film
easily in our spare time and in case there will be needed for more footage. However, this chosen
location is also because the Windsor Great Park has achieved that natural landscape look
which matches the atmosphere of the track. In fact, the park is huge and there will be enough
spaces for us and the actor to work on. Example, if we wanted to have a scene of main
character running through the field. It will also contain a great view for us to complete our
filming, especially how the park included a small river where is it perfect to achieve that
peaceful atmosphere.
The second scene would be of the actor against a black sheet showing raw expressions by using
different hand movements with a range of shots. We have decided to complete this scene in our
school’s drama studio which provided black background setting and easily for us to film.
Lastly, the third scene will be in a bath room where the actor will be placed in the bath with white
clothing, filming emotional scenes by doing many different shots with many close up shots of
body parts, to a medium shot of the actor sitting in the bath.
7. IDEAS ON DIGIPAK
WE ALSO CONSIDERED HOW TO DRESS THE GIRL FROM THE PHOTOS ON THE
CD COVER TO OUTFITS TO FILM IN. WE CHOSE TO USE A WHITE LIGHT DRESS
FOR THE PICTURES OF THE CD COVER. IT WAS ALSO QUITE A FORMAL DRESS
THAT YOU WOULD WEAR IN THE EVENINGS. WE THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE
GREAT FOR OUR CD COVER AS WE DIDN'T WANT TO DRESS HER IN ANYTHING
TOO CAUSAL TO KEEP THE COVER LOOKING PROFESSIONAL AND SMART LIKE
SHE WAS A REAL PROFESSIONAL SINGER. HOWEVER THE CLOTHING FOR
FILMING WAS A LOT MORE CASUAL AS WE WANTED TO MAKE THE FILMING
LOOK MORE REALISTIC TELLING A STORY OF A YOUNG GIRL WITH A BROKEN
LOVE STORY. WE ALSO CONSIDERED HOW TO HAVE THE MAKEUP
THROUGHOUT FILMING AND DECIDED TO KEEP IT FAIRLY NATURAL TO MAKE
THE GIRL LOOK INNOCENT AND REALISTIC, THE HAIR WAS ALSO JUST NATURAL
AND WAVY.
