3. The Pursuit
Our film opening will be focused around a female
student and a mysterious man who are involved in
crime activity.
The reason for choosing the title ‘pursuit’ is because
as a viewer you will get the immediate thought that
the main female character is being pursued.
However, the under lying problem is she is trying to
escape a lifestyle that she has gotten herself into.
She is constantly being pursued by the bad lifestyle
she is in.
4. Genre
Our film will be a youth drama. We were inspired by
films such as Kidulthood and my brother the devil . We
intend to conform to these types of openings.
The characters we will introduce in our opening are a
young schoolgirl and a middle-aged man. The different
social groups that will be evident in our opening are
different age groups and different genders. We are
going to represent the characters with the stereotypes.

6. Institutional details
Our film will be an independent production, as there
are only a small number of people involved in
making our opening and we have a very low budget.
Normally an independent production will need many
companies to produce and distribute their film,
meaning there will be quite a few idents in their title
sequence. Instead of having many companies to
produce and distribute our film, we will only be
supported by Candi as they will be providing the
equipment.
7. Audience
As our film opening is a youth drama based around
crime and young people, our core target audience
are teenagers and young adults aged between 16
and 25. However we may also have a wider target
audience who may be older adults from the age of
25 and above, who may watch our opening to feel a
sense of nostalgia and reminisce their teen years.
We will be able to address our audience because
they will be able to relate to our opening. This is
because the characters are similar ages to our
target audience.
8. Mise en scene- location
We have chosen to use Camden as our prime location for our film
opening. We have chosen this area as it is a very popular and well
known area in London, meaning people can relate to our opening
when they watch it, as they will have been there or have heard about
the area. Within Camden we will be using Camden Lock and Primrose
Hill as our further settings. We thought these would be good settings to
film our chase scene and be able to engage the audience well.
However we do bear in mind that this is a very popular area and so
does become very packed and crowded on certain days. With this is
mind, as well as making sure our filming equipment is safe we have a
back up location where we can film. This will be at a school, which we
have permission to use and will also make our good location for our
scenes.

10. Mise en scene- Props,
costumes etc.
To portray the different characters that will be involved
in our scene we will be using different costumes to do
so. The student will be wearing a school uniform so it is
obvious to the audience that she is a teenage girl. This
helps to show her character as someone who is young
and vulnerable. We then have the older male character
who will be wearing a tracksuit/hoodie to portray his
character as a stereotypical young male. Other than
this we won’t need any props.

14. Risk assesment
Risks Solution
There is a possibility of getting
injured while running.
We will be supervised by older
siblings and also have a medical
kit available if this happens.
Filming in restricted areas. We will ask for permission before
filming in certain places. E.g. a
shop
There may be people around who
do not want to be filmed.
If we are approached we will
reassure them that our film will not
be shown publically. We will also
reshoot if we need to.
Making sure our equipment is
safe.
We will be supervised by older
adults and make sure we are in
safe areas and never leave
equipment unattended.
