1. Florence and the Machine ‘Howl’ evaluation.
The three of us have come to the decision to change our choice of song and plan for our music
video. We have decided to do this for a number of reasons;
Inconvenience of the location of our video being in a rural village, with little transport to get
there.
Another problem facing us with the setting of our video is that it is outside. With the dark
nights fast approaching it is difficult for us to get enough footage before it is dark.
It required a large number of cast. This meant it was increasingly difficult for everyone to get
to that location on a set day.
Time scheduling was difficult as not everyone was free on a particular day due to other
commitments or work.
Also there was too much content within our video, we had slightly over complicated things.
Meaning it was very hard to get everything done in one shoot.
We have learnt from this experience mainly not to over complicate things and that less is more. We
have learnt about time management and how we need to make sure we start early enough to get
things done. We have also learnt that we need one strong idea that we can expand on rather than a
range of ideas that are weaker and less effective in comparison.
However we are still using element s from our video; as we are still filming ‘Emma’s dance scene’
and tweaking it to feature in our new style of video.’ We have chosen to do the song ‘Waiting all
Night for You’ By Rudimental ft Ella Eyre.
We have chosen to do this song because it is a largely dance featured song and much more upbeat.
The message of the song is much vaguer so we don’t have limited options in what we can imply
through our video.
We aren’t starting again as a large majority of our research is still valid. We looked into current
female artists and the conventions that the target audiences look for. As the song we have chosen
has a lead female vocalist, we are largely basing our video around her. This means that the Florence
and the machine research that we did is still relevant, and we will still be using ‘Emilie and the
Emeralds’ as our artist.
