The magazines I have chosen to analyze are “VIBE
MAGAZINE”.Traditionally vibeusually places
their masthead in big bold writing behindthe
characters body/head. This is done to give the
celebrity the spotlight and the main focus of the
magazine. To emphasize who is on the front of
the page they right their name on the left/right
side of the page. On the magazine with drake they
used dark colors (background and clothing) to
emphasize he’s t-shirtand too show he’s
“unstoppable”.
We can also suggest that maybe he likes to be
seen as mysterious and a dark character. Kanye
West looks very sophisticated howeverhe facial
expressions show different. The magazine uses
very light colors to try and cover up he’s moody
face. If there was a dark background with a dark
mysterious character, it would not look good for
the celebrity and the magazine. We could suggest
that he’s moody face is put on as he wants to be
seen as someone serious.
Lastly Eminem’s magazine uses both light and
dark colors. Maybe to represent the way he is;
serious and fun. He’s tattoos are shown which
gives him a threatening look, he’s hair is cut short
and he’s wearing a chainnecklace. He somewhat
has a look of a prisoner. If we look at a cover line
it says “EMINEMCOMESCLEAN” which proves he
has done nothing wrong.
