The document discusses the production of a music video. It summarizes the research of existing music videos to understand genre conventions and the target audience. Various technologies were used including the Blackmagic URSA Mini 4K camcorder to film shots, a projector to display changing graffiti images, and Adobe Premier Pro for post-production editing by syncing footage to the song, adding slow motion clips, and color grading.

Pre-Production
Existing Music Videos
In order to create a music video which not only followed
our intentions but also adhered to its genre conventions we
researched many existing music videos made my female
artists. In these we
noted down any
similarities and
differences between
them so we could use
any if possible in our
music video. Mostly
we researched any
female rock singers
and then used
YouTube to watch the
videos. We needed to
figure out what type
of artists our target audience of 18 - 20 year olds were
attracted to Following this we began applying any of the
conventions to our music video plan, this worked well as we
could look at conventions and stereotypes that worked well,
and then apply them correctly to the video to help it fit in to
the genre as much as needed.

Production
Blackmagic URSA Mini 4K Camcorder
To film our music video we used the Blackmagic camera
because of its amazing quality which allowed to take very in
focus shots. The camera is also easy to move around, which
meant we could get different angled shots. Another use for
the camera we used was that it can be mounted on a track to
move the camera slowly back and forward in some of the
shots.
Production
Projector
For the production we also used a projector which we
connected to a laptop. The slideshow of modern graffiti we
created changed with the songs lyrics and beat, and the
photos used fit well with the songs
rebellious feel. We projected the
slideshow on to the screen and filmed our
artist in front of it - with some of the
projections being on her body as well as
the back wall. This gave a really interesting effect to the
graffiti, and the powerful images subverted the weak female
stereotype we were aiming to remove.

Post Production
Adobe Premier Pro
We used Adobe Premier
Pro editing software for the post
production of our music video.
To edit our music video we
exported all of our footage and put them into bins. These also
contained the clapper which had the music for the video. Then, the
clips were renamed so they would be easier to identify when editing
started. First I created the performance cut - where you sync all of the
performance element to the song Wicked Ones, I synced the footage
to the song by lining up the sound of the drums at the begging of the
footage with the drums of the clapper. As I did this I made sure that
each of the elements were together.
After creating the performance cut for the video, I was able to
copy the performance cut on to a different tab so I could then continue
to edit the other elements in without touching the original
performance cut, giving us a safety net in case we were to make a
mistake. To make our video more interesting we had filmed in 25 and
50 flps on the day - however afterwards, on Premier pro we were able
to slow down the clips filmed in 50
flps in order to give more variety to
our music video. When we were
happy with the final cut of our
video we were then able to could
grade it so all the shots moved
seamlessly from one to the next.
