Existing Websites and Social Media
To plan for our website we researched existing websites of the
artists we researched for the other elements. By using artists from the
same genre we were again able to figure out the conventions of rock
which we then applied to our website. For example we noticed the
colour schemes all contained black and about one other colour. Other
similarities included the pictures of the artist, links to social media and
the tabs included in the header. After examining lots of websites, we
decided having an interesting background - a moving one in our case,
was the best choice as it engages the audience. Next we created the
social media for our artist, which we linked to our website. I examined
artists existing social media pages, noted what was written in their bios
and their posts, and mimicked the information shown in order to fit
with the genre.

DSLR Cannon, IPhone and Black Magic
4K
To create our website we used our own
photos and videos, which we took
beforehand on two prosumer cameras.
Firstly, through our shoot we used a DSLR
cannon camera and our phones, to take
photographs backstage of our artist and the
equipment. We planned to use these on the
website in order to show our artist as a
relaxed woman - who is connected with her
audience. Similarly we used the DSLR
cannon for our album cover photoshoot -
and used some of those photos on the
website. The Black Magic 4K camera we used to film our music video,
however we edited a section of the video and copied it, in order to use
this as the moving video background of our website. This immediately
gives the audience a taster
of our artists star image as
soon as they enter our
website, and also
encourages them to watch
the Wicked One’s music
video, as the camera work
and mise en scene in the
clip we chose was
interesting and unique.

wix.com
To create the website for our artist, Veto, we used the well known free
website creator wix.com. The website does have many paid for
features however for our website we used the many free features on
the site. We used the website’s font feature to find one we felt fit with
our genre and transferred that not only to our websites front page but
also to the album cover in order to keep a common theme throughout
- this was done as a response to our focus group. We used the
background feature and explored it, which meant we were able to use
a video on the background to make the website more appealing to
our target audience. Next we edited a logo for our website, and again
used it for our album artwork in order to keep a theme throughout the
campaign. We added a bar at the top of our page so the audience can
easily navigate the website , and used simple page names. On this bar
we also added a social media bar with links to social media pages we
made, and a link to iTunes. When we scroll down the homepage we
see the music video we created embedded in the website in order to
showcase the artists new products. Below we have embedded our
artists social media feed
so our audience feels
closer to our artist and
can see what she does
in her time. This is
linked to Dyer’s star
image theory as Veto is
present to the audience
while also absent.
