GREEN REVOLUTION
• In 1965 the government of India mrs Indra
Gandhi decided to take a major step on
agriculture condition.
• Thus "green revaluation was applied to the
period from 1967to1978 basically in parts of
Punjab and Haryana.
• At this stage the green revaluation was
concern only with wheat and rice.
•Dr swaminathan from India' led green
revaluation as the Punjab
GREEN REVALUATION IS ALSO KNOWN AS
SEEDS, WATER FERTILIZERS-PESTICIDES-
TECHNOLOGY
DEFINITION
J.G HARRAR "The green revaluation is the
phase generally used to describe the
spectacular increase that took place during
1967-68 and continuing in the production of
food grains in India".
HISTORY OF GREEN
REVOLUTION
• The beginning of the Green Revaluation are
often attributed to NORMAN Borlaug an
American scientists interested in
agriculture.In 1940's he began conducting
research in maxico and developed new
disease resistance high-yield varieties of
wheat
• Due to the success of the Green Revaluation
in Mexico it's technologies spread world
wide in the 1950's and1960's
• The high-yielding varieties of seeds after
1965and the increase use of fertilizers and
irrigation provide the increase in production
which improved agriculture in India
METHODS USED IN GREEN
REVALUATION
Multiple cropping system
Seeds with superior genetics
Proper irrigation system
HYV seeds
Pesticides and fertilizers
Modern machines
Expansion of farming areas
EFFECTS OF GREEN
REVALUATION
Increase in production
Capitalistic forming
Effect on Rural employment
Reduction in imports of food grains
Development of industries
Effect on pricess
Base for economic Growth
Effect on consumer
ISSUES REGARDING GREEN
REVALUATION
Population and erosion of soil
Pollution of water
Unemployment among uneducated former
Deadly disease
Harmfull for former
Consumption may be advance
NEEDS FOR SECOND GREEN
REVALUATION
India has tremendous export potential in
agriculture in present era of globalisation.
In second Green Revaluation emphasis should
be laid on
Non food grains
Improving global market opportunities
Improving rural infrastructure
Improving rural roads and electrification
Conclusion
•As a technalogic innovation the Green
Revaluation replaced "one way of life in
another in short span of two decodes
•The lesson learned from this green
Revaluation should enable policy Markets
to reduce the adverse effects of the
coming Biorevalution based on genetic
engineering
