1. Main image and representation analysis
The rolling stones magazine, which features the band ‘eagles’. The shot is of
the whole band causally standing around waiting for their photo. The camera
work is a simple far shot which shows them all standing. The lighting on this
particular photo is made to make them seems darker and more tanned then
they really are, this is also aided by makeup as well. The backround is red and
gives off the feeling they are bad which is added to by the caption ‘A Good
Year In Hell’. The red adds emphasis on he fact they are a bit rebellious and
devious. The camera work on this picture is, like the backround was, to make
them seem bad and the way they have no emotion on their face apart from a
stare makes them seem serous and that they mean business. They don’t have
any props but they use each other to lean on and support themselves which
makes them seem like they are in this together as well and a rebellious band.
There dress and how they look is a typical of the 70’s the high jeans and the
long hair made them blend in with the other bands of their time but unlike the
rest of them they had a the devil in them which made their music different.
The audience for this magazine are people who like the rolling stone or the
genre of music so a similar band would entice them.
2. This magazine double page spread is an extract from ‘Q’ the double page
spread is dominated by lagy gaga which takes up hal the page. This makes her
really stand out as when you look through the magazine this big picture will
catch your eye. She is wearing no clothes in this picture which again draws
people in. The colour scheme is black and white with a little bit of red. The
black and white shows the inocence and purity of her while she has a little bit
of red/mischief in her the back round of her photo has words behind it whcih
looks like her name. Her nacklase is covering most of her chest like she is
wearing it as a piece of clothing and her hands are doing the rest. The camera
work is a shot which is trying to cram all of her into one as it cuts off a bit of
her head and arms. This magazine is aimed at 15-25 year olds so they would
know or should know who lady gaga is but just in case they dont the title of the
article is ‘lady GAGA’. Lady gaga is a person who is very self centred and this
article proves it that one whole page has her picture on it. The way her
makeup is done is typical of her crazy, out of the blue and not normal but she
wouldnt go out like this, but perhaps when she is preforming.
