Colour scheme
The reason that I have chosen these colours for my colour scheme
is because I believe it best portrays the colours that I intend to
use in the game. The reason that I have chosen black is because it
is represents space. The reason that I have chosen purple orange
and red is because I believe that the colours best represent
nebulas which I intend to have in my game. The reason that I have
chosen the blue and white is because it gives off a glowing colour
like a star. Another reason for choosing the black and white is for
the black hole design and it will mainly feature those two colours.

Different Fonts
The reason that I selected the bold and dark fonts at the top of the
font left is because I want the main menu screen to stand out on
my project and be clearly visible to see and understand and read
and I believe that a bold font does that well, I would use these
bold fonts for the options that will appear on the main menu for
example calibrations, customization, quit and start/play, those
options will look better I believe work will work in bold font. For
the title I have decided to use one of the fonts that look fancy as it
would stand out more and make the title of game more
memorable and more noticeable however I would keep a the
fancy writing bold it would just look different font style to the
others. At the bottom of the font list is the font that I intend to use
for the point scoring system during the actual game as I believe it
would tally the numbers well and be noticeable and stand out as
its used.
Image style
The reason that I have chosen these image styles is because its
extremely similar to the type of arcade game that I am
intending to make. The top 3 image styles are the way that
similar existing products are set out with a menu option and
scoring systems telling you what score your on during the
gameplay, this is how I intend to set my game out during
gameplay making it visible to see who is winning. Another good
part of the 3 top images is the angle that its set out in they put
it on a tilted birds eye view angle making the game more visible
from the side of the person playing the game, I like this angle
and feature however for my game it will be set as a birds eye
view straight from above. The last 3 images show a image style
of main menus and how they are set out, the second to last
image gives to options however the font and colour that they
are in make it stand out. The last option is in boxes making it
clear and visible of where to press but also in a font the stands
out, the title for both games although different font style are
both a bold size. I like both of them and the ideas will help with
my final project which is why I chose them.
Layout 1
For my potential design I intend to use different
planets in the background of the game as well as
nebulas and other space mystery's, I believe that
this will create a good atmosphere around the
game and make it more interesting to play. I chose
2 different main menu options so that when I'm
making my final project I am able to choose which
type of layout I am able to use. The main reason
for including planets in the layout is to show that it
is a space themed game with different planets and
options. Both of the menu screens show different
ideas that I could use in my final product. The
menu at the top of the layout sheet is what
happens when play game would be pressed on my
game it shows weather its going to be a 1 or 2
player and allows you choose the difficulty this will
be the option that people would want from a game
so they are ably to calibrate it to there standard of
game. At the top right of the layout plan is a nebula
this image would be in the background of the main
menu of both pages and be a main feature of the
game and making it mysterious and interesting to
play. The planet earth that’s on layout 1 is going to
be the disk that’s used during the game and will be
the main object that’s played with unless its
changed in customizations. The other 2 images
used in layer 1 are for background affect to add
something extra to the advergame. Over all I think
that the advergame will follow a similar menu
design.
Layout 2
The reason that I went with the design for the
top half, which is the menu screen, is because
its simple and easy to understand. It has arrows
that will highlight the options to choose from
and in the game when a arrow is selected it will
get bigger and glow. The colour of the menu will
be a black background with stars and nebulas
the colour of the writing would be red to stand
out and make it more visible to the person
having to choose an option. Each option would
open a new set of options however thy would
have different options on them but the
background would stay the same. At the bottom
of the layout plan is how my gameplay would
look, there would be a lot more included detail
in it more background but essentially it would
look like a air hockey table with a disk, the disk
in the game would be the customization of
planet. When the custom option is pressed it
will give the option to either change planet or
change the background. When the play option is
pressed it will give the option for easy, difficult
or hard setting including a co-op setting to play
a friend. The scoring system in the game would
be simple and easy to understand it would go up
by one each point but would be in rounds the
final product would have a round number at the
middle top of the screen. Overall I intend to use
different things from this design in my final
project as it is designed to different features I
want to include.
Props & Locations
Software needed Resources
Photoshop to create the background and
set up of the game and the way it looks.
A computer with Photoshop on it in college
in lesson or to book and complete in own
time.
Microsoft word to record screenshots of
the work step by step.
A computer that contains Microsoft word
in lesson or at home for own time.
Premiere pro to record the sound within
the advergame.
A computer that contains the software of
premier pro and that I can use in my own
time or in lesson.
Microsoft PowerPoint to record the
processes that are used while creating the
game.
computer in college or at home that
contains the software Microsoft
PowerPoint.
Pen drive to store the work that’s needed
in for the advergame.
A pen drive that has been provided b
college.
Google to look up different images for
inspiration.
Wi-Fi at college or at home with internet to
use.
YouTube to look up and research other
advergames.
Internet with access to YouTube on it to
use.
Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
cant find a computer for spare time when
making the advergame.
make sure a computer is booked and ready for
me to access it and create my advergame.
the program that’s being used not working on
the booked computer so it makes it difficult to
create the advergame.
make sure to book 2 computers so that if one
has a fault then the other computer should
work.
the work that’s completed doesn’t save and
you loose all the work.
make sure that the work is saved and backed
up on a memory stick and emailed to yourself
just in case.
the computer could crash with unsaved work
on it which means the work would be lost.
make sure that work is saved every few
minutes in order to prevent this from
happening.
the work might not look like what was
originally intended.
make sure the work looks as close to what's
intended as possible unless a better idea comes
along.
making a mistake in the animation or when
creating the game.
erase the mistake or go back and re do it to
correct the mistake.
Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
spilling water on the computer which would be
dangerous.
don’t drink water or have water near a
computer.
not sitting up at the computer correctly which
can cause back pain.
make sure that your always at a computer
correctly so the back doesn’t hurt.
looking at the computer for to long which can
cause head aches.
take breaks between times on a computer so
that you don’t get a head ache.
tripping on the computer wire which can hurt
and cause injury's.
make sure the wires are tidy and out of the
way and look where abouts your stepping.
the wires electrocuting you when touch them
or knock them.
make sure you don’t touch them unless you
have to and make sure not to knock them.
leaning back on the chair as this can cause you
to fall back and cause injury.
make sure not to swing back on a chair so that
no injury's are caused.

Pre-Production Colour Scheme and Font Selection for Space-Themed Game

  • 2. Style sheet Colour scheme The reason that I have chosen these colours for my colour scheme is because I believe it best portrays the colours that I intend to use in the game. The reason that I have chosen black is because it is represents space. The reason that I have chosen purple orange and red is because I believe that the colours best represent nebulas which I intend to have in my game. The reason that I have chosen the blue and white is because it gives off a glowing colour like a star. Another reason for choosing the black and white is for the black hole design and it will mainly feature those two colours. Points Points Points Points Points Points Points Points Points Points Points Points Points Points Different Fonts The reason that I selected the bold and dark fonts at the top of the font left is because I want the main menu screen to stand out on my project and be clearly visible to see and understand and read and I believe that a bold font does that well, I would use these bold fonts for the options that will appear on the main menu for example calibrations, customization, quit and start/play, those options will look better I believe work will work in bold font. For the title I have decided to use one of the fonts that look fancy as it would stand out more and make the title of game more memorable and more noticeable however I would keep a the fancy writing bold it would just look different font style to the others. At the bottom of the font list is the font that I intend to use for the point scoring system during the actual game as I believe it would tally the numbers well and be noticeable and stand out as its used. Image style The reason that I have chosen these image styles is because its extremely similar to the type of arcade game that I am intending to make. The top 3 image styles are the way that similar existing products are set out with a menu option and scoring systems telling you what score your on during the gameplay, this is how I intend to set my game out during gameplay making it visible to see who is winning. Another good part of the 3 top images is the angle that its set out in they put it on a tilted birds eye view angle making the game more visible from the side of the person playing the game, I like this angle and feature however for my game it will be set as a birds eye view straight from above. The last 3 images show a image style of main menus and how they are set out, the second to last image gives to options however the font and colour that they are in make it stand out. The last option is in boxes making it clear and visible of where to press but also in a font the stands out, the title for both games although different font style are both a bold size. I like both of them and the ideas will help with my final project which is why I chose them.
  • 3. Layout 1 For my potential design I intend to use different planets in the background of the game as well as nebulas and other space mystery's, I believe that this will create a good atmosphere around the game and make it more interesting to play. I chose 2 different main menu options so that when I'm making my final project I am able to choose which type of layout I am able to use. The main reason for including planets in the layout is to show that it is a space themed game with different planets and options. Both of the menu screens show different ideas that I could use in my final product. The menu at the top of the layout sheet is what happens when play game would be pressed on my game it shows weather its going to be a 1 or 2 player and allows you choose the difficulty this will be the option that people would want from a game so they are ably to calibrate it to there standard of game. At the top right of the layout plan is a nebula this image would be in the background of the main menu of both pages and be a main feature of the game and making it mysterious and interesting to play. The planet earth that’s on layout 1 is going to be the disk that’s used during the game and will be the main object that’s played with unless its changed in customizations. The other 2 images used in layer 1 are for background affect to add something extra to the advergame. Over all I think that the advergame will follow a similar menu design.
  • 4. Layout 2 The reason that I went with the design for the top half, which is the menu screen, is because its simple and easy to understand. It has arrows that will highlight the options to choose from and in the game when a arrow is selected it will get bigger and glow. The colour of the menu will be a black background with stars and nebulas the colour of the writing would be red to stand out and make it more visible to the person having to choose an option. Each option would open a new set of options however thy would have different options on them but the background would stay the same. At the bottom of the layout plan is how my gameplay would look, there would be a lot more included detail in it more background but essentially it would look like a air hockey table with a disk, the disk in the game would be the customization of planet. When the custom option is pressed it will give the option to either change planet or change the background. When the play option is pressed it will give the option for easy, difficult or hard setting including a co-op setting to play a friend. The scoring system in the game would be simple and easy to understand it would go up by one each point but would be in rounds the final product would have a round number at the middle top of the screen. Overall I intend to use different things from this design in my final project as it is designed to different features I want to include.
  • 5. Props & Locations Software needed Resources Photoshop to create the background and set up of the game and the way it looks. A computer with Photoshop on it in college in lesson or to book and complete in own time. Microsoft word to record screenshots of the work step by step. A computer that contains Microsoft word in lesson or at home for own time. Premiere pro to record the sound within the advergame. A computer that contains the software of premier pro and that I can use in my own time or in lesson. Microsoft PowerPoint to record the processes that are used while creating the game. computer in college or at home that contains the software Microsoft PowerPoint. Pen drive to store the work that’s needed in for the advergame. A pen drive that has been provided b college. Google to look up different images for inspiration. Wi-Fi at college or at home with internet to use. YouTube to look up and research other advergames. Internet with access to YouTube on it to use.
  • 6. Contingency Planning Potential Issue Solution cant find a computer for spare time when making the advergame. make sure a computer is booked and ready for me to access it and create my advergame. the program that’s being used not working on the booked computer so it makes it difficult to create the advergame. make sure to book 2 computers so that if one has a fault then the other computer should work. the work that’s completed doesn’t save and you loose all the work. make sure that the work is saved and backed up on a memory stick and emailed to yourself just in case. the computer could crash with unsaved work on it which means the work would be lost. make sure that work is saved every few minutes in order to prevent this from happening. the work might not look like what was originally intended. make sure the work looks as close to what's intended as possible unless a better idea comes along. making a mistake in the animation or when creating the game. erase the mistake or go back and re do it to correct the mistake.
  • 7. Health and Safety Potential Issue How will the issue be avoided? spilling water on the computer which would be dangerous. don’t drink water or have water near a computer. not sitting up at the computer correctly which can cause back pain. make sure that your always at a computer correctly so the back doesn’t hurt. looking at the computer for to long which can cause head aches. take breaks between times on a computer so that you don’t get a head ache. tripping on the computer wire which can hurt and cause injury's. make sure the wires are tidy and out of the way and look where abouts your stepping. the wires electrocuting you when touch them or knock them. make sure you don’t touch them unless you have to and make sure not to knock them. leaning back on the chair as this can cause you to fall back and cause injury. make sure not to swing back on a chair so that no injury's are caused.
  • 8.
