3. For my project I am going to be creating a short film in the format of a YouTube vlog. The overall
genre of the product will be horror as I am very passionate about this specific genre and am also
interested in expanding my skills in this area. The actual story of my product is that a YouTube
vlogger is walking round York, he has just seen out shopping so he is explaining to the vlog about
what he has bought, he also mentions about the homeless problem in York. This will be included so
that my product can be linked back to York which is the theme of the project. As the vlogs continues,
the sky will, start to become darker. This is so the horror theme is conveyed. The vlogger will then
end up in a street near the shambles and this is where mysterious tings start to happen to him. The
street is very quiet and the vlogger begins to hear noises behind him like bottles rolling and scuttling
noises. This starts to raise suspicion for the vlogger. After this, it starts to become a bit more intense.
To do this, running scenes are including and the vlogger looks way more scared. Throughout the
product, I will edit in ghostly figures and elements. They will appear in the background to create
even more suspense for the audience as the vlogger will not see them. The product will end with the
camera dropping on the floor and then a ghostly figure will be slightly shown, it will then end
leaving the product on a cliff hanger. The ending will be dramatic and include dramatic music to
empathize it.

4. The entirety of my product will be filmed in the vlog format. I decided to to this as I wanted to create
something different than I normally would. This is good as it would allow me to expand my
knowledge and perhaps learn and pick up different skills and techniques. I also wanted to do this
format as I feel like it conveys emotion incredibly well. This is because every shot is a close shot of
the main character raw emotion. This creates a very realistic feel for the product and will allow the
audience to feel more for the character. I decided to choose horror as the genre of for my product as I
felt I would that my first basic idea would fir in very well with this specific genre. This is because it
would be achievable to do and I also thought that I would be able to create a very effective product in
this area. I want to start my product with the vlogger talking about his day as this will allow the
product to be more light hearted to start off with. I wanted to do this as it will make the change in
tone much more dramatic therefore conveying much more drama and emotion for the audience. This
will create a much more suspenseful and intense feel therefore making sure the purpose of the
product is fulfilled. I think I may also not make the colour correction at the start of the product as
cold and desaturated as the later stages. This is so at the beginning, things appear much more
positively again making the tone change more dramatic. I want to film the scarier parts of my
product in the dark. This is because the dark conveys high connotations of fear and the unknown
therefore fitting perfectly in the them of my product. It is also associated with horror highly
therefore I feel it is a necessity for a horror film. I have decided to chose a street near the shambles
in York as I feel at night they would look incredibly scary and create a very tense feel for the
audience.

5. For my product I will need to make sure that
I colour correct my product effectively. This
is because the colour correction can really
change the atmosphere of the product. For
my product specifically, I will use similar
colour correction as included in the image.
This is because it is very desaturated and
dark. This conveys very negative
connotations for the product and allows me
to portray the atmosphere that I want.
The image displayed is similar to a street
I would like to film down in York. This is
because at night they will hopefully be
quite quiet and the narrow path and high
buildings will create an extremely eerie
atmosphere and create an immense
amount of suspense. Furthermore, with
the colour correction on, the street will
look even more scary and will create the
perfect atmosphere for the product.
The colour correction included on
this specific image from IT is very
good and would well for my product.
I think this because its color grade
conveys a very depressing feel
therefore foreshadowing the tone of
the product. This is similar to how I
want my product to look as both
products include similar tones and
themes.

6. I have included Cloverfield on my mood
board. This is because this film shares many
similar qualities to my product. First of all,
its format is quite similar as it is all filmed
in first person. I got inspiration from tis
however, I decided to change the format
slightly and film my product in a vlog
format. Its colour tone is also similar to what
I am planning to include as they are both
very dark. This is to convey the negative
events of the product and convey the
The Blair Witch Project has been include don my mood
board Tis is because again similar to Cloverfield, this
product is filmed in a similar format to mine and is
also another film I took inspiration from. A key aspect
form this film which I would like to incorporate into
mine is the realistic aspect of this film. All the events
seem real. I feel like this way have been the way it was
filmed and the quality of the camera. I am thinking I
may film some of my product using a go pro to also add
a realistic and believable element to my product.
I decided to include the YouTuber Joe Wellers haunted exploring
series on my mood board. This is because it is in the same format
as my product as will as including many tense moments. This wil
be similar to mine however, my product will be more extreme and
dramatic as mine is not actual real events. Wellers videos are all
also real events which is an aspect I would like to try and convey
as I want my product to look as believable as possible.

7. The film Paranormal activity is a huge influence towards my choice to
create my specific product. First of all, this is because the film is clearly
not real however, the way it is made and directed makes it appear like
the events occurring are real. This is done by its first person format and
the idea of how the actual characters in the film are setting up all the
cameras. This is definitely an element I would like to include in my
product as I want my product to look as real and believable as possible.
This is because I feel the more real the product looks, the more tense
and scary it will be. As well as that, if the product looks quire fake in
the format of a vlog, it will just look stupid as the whole concept of my
film is for it to actually be real events.
This film is also a key influence to me because of its genre. It matches
the exact genre and theme that I would like to portray in my product.
It also begins on a much lighter tone than the rest of the film. This is
exactly the same as my product. I feel this is a good technique as it
makes the scary and tense scenes even more dramatic.

8. The YouTube Joe Weller is a big key influence foe me. This is because
his haunted exploring videos are involve real emotion. Now, although
my product is not actually real, I want it to look as believable as
possible. This is because I feel the more believable the product looks,
the more intense it is for the audience. As well as that, all of his
exploring videos are vlogs meaning that we are always getting a close
shot of all his expressions and all his reaction to things. This creates a
very different experience hence why I wanted my product to be in this
format. I would use the night effect that Weller uses when he is
exploring in the dark. This because it adds a different feel to the
product and also creates a much spookier atmosphere. It also creates
the fear of the unknown as all the background is completely black.
