Is the incident really an accident or is it intentionally planned? Why?
If you will be the witness of that case, what will you say to the police officers or the one
who is investigating the said case?
Very good responses, class! And with that, you are totally in the right track to our lesson
today.
If I will be asked,
the incident was
planned by the
lady who is in
great envy to
their family
because she
doesn’t like them
to be happy.
If I will be the
witness of the
case, I will tell
everything to the
cops of what
really happened
so that they will
have peace of
mind and they
deserve the
justice.
B. Analysis There are patterns of development in writing. To name them we have narration,
definition, description, exemplification, cause and effect, problem- solution, persuasion
and comparison- contrast.
Today, we will be dealing with the first pattern which is narration.
In your own understanding, what is narration?
5. Page 5 of 11
Correct! You need to develop the use of narration to be able to explain your thoughts
well. You must know how to arrange your ideas clearly. Consider the details that you
need to write in your paper and do it in chronological order.
Narration has elements- objective or subjective.
What do you think is objective?
What about subjective?
Correct!
Let’s have this two examples:
Dr. Jose P. Rizal was arrested and tried before a court- martial for various charges.
These charges include rebellion, sedition and conspiracy. On December 26, 1896,he
was found guilty on all these charges. He was executed by firing squad in Bagumbayan,
Narration is the
process of telling
a certain events.
Narration means
telling a story
which may be
factual or
fictional.
If your narration
is direct and
factual, it is
objective.
If your narration
has a personal
interpretation, it
is subjective.

now Luneta Park,on December 30, 1896. The last words he uttered were
“consummatum esest” (it is finished). He was thirty- five years old.
Dr. Jose P. Rizal was unjustly arrested and tried before a court- martial for various
charges. These unfair charges include rebellion, sedition and conspiracy. He was
devastated to learn of these charges and so were his countrymen and hisgrieving family
whom he has not seen for a long time. On December 26, 1896,he was wrongfully
convicted on all these charges. He was unfortunately executed by firing squad in
Bagumbayan, now Luneta Park,on December 30, 1896. The last words he uttered were
“consummatum esest” (it is finished). He died very young, thirty- five years old.
On the first excerpt, what element of narration is observed?
Very good! What about in the second excerpt?
Objective
narration, Ma’am
because it
narrates what
really happened.
Subjective
narration, Ma’am
because it
presents a
personal
interpretation
and a sort of
exaggeration
based on the
words of the
author.
7. Page 7 of 11
Very good, class! You can now easily determine what is objective and subjective.
Narration follows a certain order, it may be chronological or spatial.
What do you think is chronological?
Right! What about the spatial order?
Time is very important if you will be using chronological order. Take for example you
have been a witness in that accident, this order will be used.
In spatial order, it requires the most memorable one or the ones you remembered like
your high school experiences.
Chronological
order means
taking account of
the correct
sequence of
events.
Spatial order
takes you from
one spot or
phase to the
next.
C. Abstraction Okay, let’s have a game. I will be showing you the following statements and then identify
if it is subjective or objective. Ready?

vaccination to contain the resurgence of the diseases.

5. Taylor Swift took the high road as she won six American Music Awards on
Sunday to surpass Michael Jackson’s all- time record, avoiding any direct mention
of a bitter dispute with her old record company.
Next round; tell if the statement is written in chronological order or spatial order.
1. A volcano is a beautiful and dangerous natural phenomenon. The magma
chamber, an extremely hot part which people rarely see, is under the Earth
surface beneath the bed’s rock. The conduit is running from the volcano’s magma
chamber to the crater which is at the top of the volcano.
2. According to annual weather patterns, there are 6 major climate regions. In the
extreme northern latitudes, the climate is polar without any plant life. Next to it,
there is cold tundra in the extremes of the north of Asia and North of America
where we can find shrubs and grasses. In the adjacent temperate regions, there
are forests with a rich diversity of plants.
3. It was July 21, 1969, and Neil Armstrong awoke with a start. It was the day he
would become the first human being to ever walk on the moon. The journey had
begun several days earlier, when on July 16th, the Apollo 11 launched from Earth
headed into outer space. On board with Neil Armstrong were Michael Collins and
Buzz Aldrin. The crew landed on the moon in the sea of tranquility a day before
the actual walk. “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” It

4. The life and death of a star begins somewhere in space. Astronomers claim that a
star begins as a cloud of hydrogen and helium. As the cloud moves about it
collects bits of dust and more floating gases. Then, the cloud begins to warm as
more dust and gases are pulled into it. After a long period oftime as the cloud
becomes denser, heat and friction cause the atoms to explode. That is how a star
is born. The star will burn for about ten billion years as it radiates heat and energy.
When the hydrogen begins to burn out, the star becomes even larger. At this
stage, it gives off a lot of light but not much energy. The star may continue to burn
brightly but dies when it runs out of hydrogen. This is the life cycle of a star.
