1. Audience research
For Lj Picturesss audience research we designed a survey and
put it onto the G2L. We also put posters up in the student
centre asking people to log on and answer the questions. We
did this so we could use the feedback to help us when we do
our teaser trailer.
Firstly we asked age as this influences many factors including
genre. Four 16-19 year olds left feedback, one 22-25 year old
and two 25-30 year olds left feedback. This information can
help us establish our target market.
We asked whether a teaser trailer would encourage you to go
and watch the film when it’s released. All of the people that
left feedback said yes. By asking this we knew that we had to
make the teaser trailer interesting to make people want to go
and watch the film when it’s released.
Another question we asked was if they liked a predictable film
or a film that keeps you continually guessing. By asking this
question we help to establish what people like in a film. The
majority liked films that keep you continually guessing.
We also asked about favourite genre which is linked with
what age and gender the person is. We asked this to help
establish what genres we could short list for out teaser trailer.
Our survey was answered by 4 males and 3 females. The
majority said their favourite genre was action or thriller.
We also decided to ask through what medium they watch film.
We gave them the options of DVD, DVD and Cinema, DVD
Cinema and TV or Cinema and TV. The feedback we were left
was DVD-1, DVD and Cinema-2, DVD, Cinema and TV-3, Cinema
and TV-1. By asking this information we could decide through
what mediums we could release our film in the future to our
target audience.
By gathering all of this information we can use it to help
choose genre, target audience and the way we make our
trailer, including what we put in it. For example when we
choose our target audience the type of music we use would be
influenced by the age of our target audience. All of this
information will help us to make sure that we target the right
audience and make sure that out film will be successful.
