2. UNIVERSAL STUDIOS
It totally depends on a number of reasons as to who
might want to distribute my film, and a major factor
to consider whilst speaking about this is the fact that
my media product is an independent film. Many
separate institutions/conglomerates distribute
independent films to a variety of countries, an
example of which would be Reprisal Films’ Calvary,
starring Brendan Gleeson from 28 Days Later, which
was distributed by 20th Century Fox.
However, Universal Studios has been known to
distribute many independent films that were
specifically British due to their collaboration with
independent production companyWorkingTitle.
This makes Universal a viable candidate as a
distributor that might support my film.
3. 20TH CENTURY FOX
As mentioned in the last slide, 20th Century Fox also
collaborates with independent British films to
distribute in countries such as America or Canada,
etc. with the subsidiary company Fox Searchlight
Pictures. This, much like Universal, would make Fox
perfect to distribute my film to the public.
Other than Calvary, Fox has also distributed films
like Millions, Slumdog Millionaire, 28Weeks Later, and
many others. This shows that Fox distributes a
variety of films from many separate genres, so my
film will “fit the bill.” As it is an independent film, not
much would be spent in the way of marketing so it’d
probably turn to viral marketing via websites such as
social media, etc. which shows my film wouldn’t be
too expensive to distribute either.
