1. What kind of media institution
might distribute your media
product and why?
2. Film Distribution
Film distribution is the process of making a film available for viewing by an
audience. For commercial projects, film distribution is usually accompanied
by film promotion. When a film is initially produced, a feature film is often
shown to audiences in a movie theater. some examples of distribution
companies are:
•Universal
•Disney
•Sony
•20th Century Fox
•Lionsgate
•Warner Brothers
3. Big production companies
None of the big production companies from the previous slide would be likely to
distribute our film as we are just an independent film with no real big production
value or features that would entice these big companies to distribute it.
These production companies are used to distributing films that have millions
spent on them to add production value as they will make them the most money,
allowing them to become an even more successful and larger business.
4. Target audience
Our primary audienece will be mainly people in the UK as they are the most likely
people to watch the film and be interested in the film.
This is because we are a small production film and wouldn’t reach out to many
other countries apart from the UK. We would not have the ability to promote or
distribute our film to other countries as we done have the power too since we’re a
small film.
The UK audience would prefer it as well as they’d be able to relate to the British
characters that they can see on screen.
However other English speaking countries would be able to watch and enjoy the
film also.
5. We have produced an independent film which is a feature film that has been
produced outside the major film studio system, as well as being distributed by
independent film agencies.
We are doing this because we are a low budget film which doesn’t have the money to
advertise itself.
For example, an independent company called “Vertigo Films” would be the most likely
option to be interested in our film.
Independent films can be found at the Sundance film festival.
