Shot caller question 3
1.
2. Stalio
Productions
EML
We came up with our production companies by brainstorming names, we
wanted to embody a production company such as the BBC. We created our
idents using motion. The first screenshot is our first ident seen in our film,
it is a made up name that we liked the sound of. The second screenshot is
made up of our initial, Edelyn, ,Montell and Lenya.
3. We are trying to follow in the footsteps of ‘BBC FILMS’ they are a well known
for making British films. They are known to make quite low budget movies. They
have produced films such as Ill Manors, this film is based around teenage gang
culture, similar to ours. We would like to gain their type of target audience.
4. Our teen movie was a low budget movie. The fact our film is low budget results in some disadvantages which I will state here:
With low budget movies comes less technology, many of the big named production companies, such as; DreamWorks and 20TH
CENTURY FOX would use expensive equipment and technology to shoot their films as they have a lot of money going into it. We did not
have their budget for our film, not even close!
The quality of our film was rather good as we used a good camera (JVC ProHD). However the camera we used was no way near as
good as an ARRI ALEXA which companies such as 20TH CENTURY FOX would use. The fact we did not have a really expensive camera
did not stop my group from getting a range of really good, clear shots.
No CGI was due to our low budget.
We were not able to get any big named, Hollywood stars or actors who have starred in Thor to feature in our movie, again due to our
low budget. Our film featured 3 unknown actors.
5. As our film was low budget we were able to be more opinionated, our ideas counted and we had more
freedom to decide what we wanted to do.
Although it would have been great to get the likes of Brad Pitt starring in our low budget teen movie, it was a
great experience for us as inexperienced crew members to experience making a movie without being under the
pressures of producing a film that will be critiqued in every way by big named companies, and it was nice to see
inexperienced actors get a chance to act in front of the camera.
The distribution and marketing was much cheaper as we did it online!
Editing for the first
time (when making
‘shot caller’), it was
really enjoyable!
6. A small British company would be ideal for our film. We would
like a small production company to distribute our film as it would give
us freedom to make a film that is relevant to our target audience. We
could promote our film at festivals as a big premiere would not be
necessary.
