Carlos came with a history of violence from the preceding year. I
was warned by his former teacher that he was the worst in the
school: brandishing knives, serious aggression, repeated suspensions,
etc. My first belief is that a teacher should never let history set a
kid up for failure before you get to know him, so we started with a
clean slate.
I think that the decision taken by the professor is correct because
you must know the student before having a prejudice about him, but
at the same time the teacher has to pay attention in the
advertisement of the other professor that has the experience and
know this specific student.
Also the teacher must be worried about the pupil all the time, yet
he cannot notice that the professor knows about his situation
because the teacher has to try to give confidence to the student to
avoid moments of violence and find the instant to talk about the
problems also to understand the reasons of his behavior and help him
to find a solution.
