1. Caso de Manejo de Aula.
Case 3
‘’ Carlos came with a history of violence from the preceding year. I was warned by
his former teacher that he was the worst in the school: brandishing knives, serious
aggression, repeated suspensions, etc. My first belief is that a teacher should never
let history set a kid up for failure before you get to know him, so we started with a
clean slate ‘’
Solution:
From the very first day of class, I would start analyzing and studying his behavior;
how he socializes with his classmates and friends, how he acts in class while I teach,
and how he behaves outside the classroom. Also, I would set special attention on
him, making extra effort in teaching, so he could understand everything very clearly.
Second of all, if I immediately notice that his behavior from last year keeps the same,
meaning, bringing guns such as knives to school and being aggressive with his
classmates, I would talk to the councilor in order to attend Carlos, or even better,
make the councilor talk to the school psychologist or psycho-pedagogue to talk
privately with the student, in order to obtain a professional analysis and understand
better his internal problems.
Focusing on the classroom set; if I ever catch him with knives, I would politely and
privately ask him to put it back in his backpack, and to not bring those sort of things
to school again. Once the class where I caught him with knives is over, I would talk
to him in private and ask him the reason of why he brought that to school. If he is
closed and does not want to share anything with me, I won’t force him to talk, but on
the other hand, if he opens up to me, and tell me his problems and why he brought
a knife to school, and it involves serious family issues, I would have to appeal on the
councilor, since it is about a bigger and serious problem, which it doesn’t correspond
me legally.
