1. Media Evaluation By Tanyel Mustafa In this presentation I will be talking about what I have done to contribute to my groups work. For example: what I have done in the pre-production, production and post-production.
2. Pre-Production In the Pre-production stage I contributed by giving some ideas about what we could do for our PIF. For example: if we should do teenage pregnancy, gangs, teen drinking, drugs and physical violence. I also did a questionnaire for the students to fill out to see who is more affected by the three different crimes we come up with. For example who is more affected by drugs, alcohol and physical violence. I had to then look at the results and type it up on Microsoft word. In my questionnaire results it showed that males in their teenage years or their early twenties are affected by these crimes more as they find it cool to be in trouble so they look good. I also did a storyboard to show what the twelve different scenes would involve. The storyboard had to include the dialogue, action, camera angle and colour. I did all of these which helped me to stay on task. As a group we had to do a budget sheet which involved the prices of the equipment and props we were going to use. This sheet helped me find the overall total for everything we were going to use. I then went on to do the production schedule sheet parts 1 and 2 which helped me a lot. This is because it showed me when we were going to start all the programmes. For example: proposal start, shooting script start and production start. On part 2 I had to type up what we were going to use. For example: Props/Scenery , Crewing Requirements, Production Equipment required and how many actors there are going to be. I also did my own proposal which included who the PIF is for (teenagers) and how we want it to encourage people to stop doing crimes. I also spoke about where the filming will take place. For example: school car park, girls school toilets and school field. The last two things I spoke about were how many people are going to be acting and what equipment will be used.
3. Production In the production stage I had a chance to use the camera to film some of the scenes. I enjoyed this because I got the chance to see all the different ways that the camera can be used. For example: doing a variety of different angles – close up, medium close up and long shot. I also took part in the scenes as I was willing to act. I was in a variety of scenes. For example: drug scene and teen drinking. I preferred being the actor in the PIF because it was more enjoyable than using the camera and filming. I then had to do a shot material log which involved inserting a table. In this table I had to put in all the clip information which was on the video camera. For example: I had to put the scene no., take no. Time code in, time code out, description and comments.
4. Post-Production In the post-production stage we started editing our PIF that we produced by using the video camera. We had to go on the Apple Mac Computers to use Imovie. Each person in the group had a chance to do some editing. I also did some editing which was fun because I had the chance to look at the different ways I can edit. For example: using transitions. As a group we had to do a questionnaire for the audience screening. I typed a variety of question for the audience to answer to receive some feedback. We needed feedback so we know what exactly needed to be changed in order to make our PIF better. We received some positive feedback but we had a few negative. This was because there was too much text to read which made it a bit boring. We listened to the feedback we received and made the changes which needed to be done to make our PIF more successful. I then did a paper edit sheet ( rough version and final version) both these sheets showed should show the information about the whole PIF. For example: take no., scene no., time code in, time code out, description, effect and sound.
5. My Contribution I think I contributed well because I participated in the PIF by acting and doing some filming. Another reason why I think this is because I did a lot of work in the group which was up to a high standard and I was always on task when there was work to do. I never wasted time in class so it made everything seem a lot quicker as all the work was finished on time. I also think I contributed well because during the editing I had given a lot of ideas which helped in the PIF because it made it look more successful and up to a high standard.
