Working Title:
Politics Made Simple
Audience:
I have decided to aim my product at middle aged people, aged between 45-64 , I have chosen to
aim it at this audience, because my product is a radio documentary based on Brexit and I feel as if
middle aged people will be very interested in listening to the documentary, I also feel at that age
they will be very up to date with current affairs and definitely Brexit. Therefore I think that they will
want to listen to my documentary to understand both sides. I have also aimed it at people of this
age range because I know that the final decisions on Brexit will still affect middle aged people, I
have decided to aim my product at both male and female, because I think that both genders will be
interested in the topic of my documentary, and I know that they will have many views on it. I have
also decided to aim my product at all social statuses and different backgrounds, I have done this
because, I feel as if everyone should have the chance to listen to my documentary. I have decided
to aim my product at people in the AB and C1 category, because traditionally the people within
these categories are interested in politics and current affairs. I would also speak to my audience in
a more relaxed and informal way. I also know that the type of people in my target audience are
predominately left wing, they have a monthly income of £1,000 and they live in the London area. I
will be aiming my product at NRS grade B (middle class) I have decided to aim it at this group
because, after conducting research I have seen that a lot of middle class people voted (30.7%) I
think my content will attract the middle class people, especially my interviews within my
documentary. I have decided to aim my product at “Belonger” psychographic because a belonger
are community oriented and refer products to being produced in the UK and after conducting
research I have found that that sounds very much like the middle class group that I have decided
to aim my product at. I will also make sure that I include certain sound effects and music that will
attract males wanting to listen to my product, and I will make sure that I include an interview with a
female to attract females wanting to listening to my product.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Looking back at this year so far, I have acquired a lot of new skills, especially with in software,
such at Adobe Audition. I have done a number of different units, throughout the year. The units
that I have done were not in the area of that I want to specialise in, but by completing them it has
shaped the product and area that I have now chosen for my Final Major Product. For example I
studied a film unit, where during the project I had to edit the film that I had made in Premiere Pro,
because I had done this, this then paved the way for me wanting to do an audio based project for
my Final Major Project. Because I feel as if audio editing is something that I am good at and I feel
comfortable using the software, a few weeks ago I got introduced to the software Adobe Audition,
and I feel as if I picked up skills straight away. By taking away the audio editing side of the film
unit, this will have direct impact upon my product, because I will use the same tools when
producing my Final Major Project and even new ones.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
For my Final Major Project, I have decided to create a radio documentary, based on Brexit. I have
chosen this topic because I feel as if it is very relevant, and also because of the age range that I
fall under, that will then help me explore different views and opinions for people my age. I am also
going to create a logo for the radio station my documentary will be broadcast on. I have decided to
create a logo because I feel as if it will look very professional and stick out to my target audience.
To create these products, I will have to do a lot of research in different areas, and look at a number
of pre-existing products. Such as already produced radio show logos, and look at already
produced radio shows that are based on my topic. I have already done a lot of research in to pre-
existing products, and have found a collection of different radio shows based on Brexit, produced
by BBC Radio 4. By listening to these shows I have managed to look at all of the different technical
aspects, such as sound effects, language, music, flowing of the show.

Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work in a number of different ways, at the end of my Final Major Project, I will
explain and go in to detail about the strengths and weaknesses, within each part of my project, for
example I will discus the strengths and weaknesses of my research and also talk about any
improvements that I could of made, if I had been given more time, and also talk about any
improvements that I would make on my products, had I been given more time. I also try to proof
read my work and look back at it throughout the course of the week, to ensure I have done my
best in including all of the points and different aspects that I needed to.
