Diploma in Creative Media Production
& Technology
Project proposal template
In producing the project proposal, and in preparing for the project realisation, you should
familiarise yourself with Unit 8 of the qualification.
In particular, you should understand the assessment and grading criteria which will be
used to determine standards of achievement.
Unit 8 requires you to produce a project proposal of about 350 words, excluding the
project action plan and bibliography. Project proposals should not be so succinct that
they do not address the requirements listed below, nor should they be excessively long
and unfocused.
Your project proposal should be sufficiently challenging to ensure you have the best
possible chance of meeting the grading criteria.
Your project proposal should include:
 Centre name and number
 Candidate name and number

 Project proposal title and date
 Main area of activity/ pathway, e.g. film, TV, games design etc.
The project proposal must be word processed and presented under the headings listed
here:
Section 1 - Rationale
(Approximately 100 words)
This section provides you with an opportunity to reflect on, review and summarise your
progress and achievements through the first seven units of the qualification, and the
knowledge, skills and understanding you have acquired; What you know now, and what
it means to you, compared with what you knew and could do before you started the
course and how this has influenced your choice of pathway and your project proposal.
Section 2 – Project concept
(Approximately 200 words)
This section provides an opportunity for you to clearly explain the concept and aims of
your project, the research and ideas that will support its development, what you
anticipate producing, the levels and types of resources that you will need and an
indication of the form in which you will complete and present your project realisation
within the allocated timescale.
Section 3 - Evaluation
(Approximately 50 words)
This section provides an opportunity for you to explain how you will reflect on and
evaluate your work, as both an ongoing activity and at the conclusion of the project.
You should describe how you intend to record your decision-making and how you will
document changes to your ideas as the project progresses. The evaluation section
should reference your stated aims and be reflective and analytical rather than a
description of actions completed.
When working in collaboration with others, you should comment on how this may impact
either positively or adversely and outline the steps you can take to minimise disruption to
your own progress.
Additional requirements, not included in the 350word limit of the
proposal:
Project action plan and timetable:
This section provides you with an opportunity to outline your planning and organisation
over a period of weeks and the activities you will need to carry out in order to
successfully complete your project in the agreed time frame. The more time and thought
you give to planning your project, the more successful it is likely to be.
It is important that you consider how you will balance ambition, time and realism in the
realisation of the project. You should also include what you are going to do, how you will
do it and by when. Remember to include: time spent sourcing materials and other
resources to conduct research, seek feedback from tutors and peers, and identify when
you will carry out independent study.
Bibliography (Harvard Format):
This section provides an opportunity to record the initial research sources, both primary
and secondary, that you intend to use.
Your sources of research should be as wide as possible and could include libraries,
galleries, books, magazines, films, computer games, websites, blogs, social media, radio
programmes, archive material etc. Where appropriate, you should use the Harvard
system of referencing. The bibliography should be continuously updated as the project
progresses.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLMJFIii2Ag – Johnson Figueretto Movie
Opening Scene
These links above are project works I did in the first seven units of this course
which have really enabled me to get a better understanding of myself, what I enjoy,
what I don’t like, my strengths, my weakness and what I can improve. The first thing
I would say is about the software's that I used. I used Adobe Audition to create my
Radio Advert. It looked complicated at first but when it got explained to me it
became fairly easy to use. I also used Adobe InDesign to create my magazines for
Johnson Figueretto . This was fairly simple to use and do as I already had
experience from the previous year on it. I used Adobe Photoshop to create my
poster. With Photoshop, I was not familiar with it making me want to create the
poster on Adobe InDesign. I was then recommended by my peers to create it on
Photoshop as it is much easier and more effective and that was the case when I
made my poster. Lastly, I used Adobe Premiere to edit both of my videos. I learnt
how to apply transitions and effects to my advert and especially my movie which
needed a lot of that included. Before the start of these units, I never really had a
clear of what I wanted to do in the future. After doing these things I realized that I
enjoyed making films and posters for them. This has now influenced me to make
something along the lines of film or documentary for my final poster.
Section 2: Project Concept (approx 200 words)
I have decided that for my final project, I will be making a short film intro based on a
young boy who lives in London and is not only a passionate football fan but also a
talented youth that fulfilled his dreams and aspirations of becoming a professional
pro. His name is Darren Brown and he is 18 years old. He was released when he
was 16 years old and was completely depressed so starting with friends that have
negative influences. These are such as smoking, stealing, assault and bullying and
drug possession. He realises that this is the life he doesn’t want to live so he
decides to get back in to training and work on his fitness in the gym. Whilst training
one day, and agent decides to offer him a trial at a London club which he is grateful
for. The day of the trial, he has to decide whether he wants to attend the trial, or join
his friend in a massive crime they want him to be involved in. Ultimately the choice
he makes will influence his future massively. The genre of the film will be sport and
drama. The aim of the film is to entertain the audience and to reveal the choices
that young people make in life and the impacts it has on them in the future.
Section 3: Evaluation (approx 50 words)
Evaluation
I am going to be reflecting on everything that I during the course of this project. This
will be the different ideas that I come up with for my film and the production work
that I actually do such as shooting, creating scripts, storyboards and editing.

Proposal

  • 1. Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology Project proposal template In producing the project proposal, and in preparing for the project realisation, you should familiarise yourself with Unit 8 of the qualification. In particular, you should understand the assessment and grading criteria which will be used to determine standards of achievement. Unit 8 requires you to produce a project proposal of about 350 words, excluding the project action plan and bibliography. Project proposals should not be so succinct that they do not address the requirements listed below, nor should they be excessively long and unfocused. Your project proposal should be sufficiently challenging to ensure you have the best possible chance of meeting the grading criteria. Your project proposal should include:  Centre name and number  Candidate name and number
 Project proposal title and date  Main area of activity/ pathway, e.g. film, TV, games design etc. The project proposal must be word processed and presented under the headings listed here: Section 1 - Rationale (Approximately 100 words) This section provides you with an opportunity to reflect on, review and summarise your progress and achievements through the first seven units of the qualification, and the knowledge, skills and understanding you have acquired; What you know now, and what it means to you, compared with what you knew and could do before you started the course and how this has influenced your choice of pathway and your project proposal. Section 2 – Project concept (Approximately 200 words) This section provides an opportunity for you to clearly explain the concept and aims of your project, the research and ideas that will support its development, what you anticipate producing, the levels and types of resources that you will need and an indication of the form in which you will complete and present your project realisation within the allocated timescale.
  • 2. Section 3 - Evaluation (Approximately 50 words) This section provides an opportunity for you to explain how you will reflect on and evaluate your work, as both an ongoing activity and at the conclusion of the project. You should describe how you intend to record your decision-making and how you will document changes to your ideas as the project progresses. The evaluation section should reference your stated aims and be reflective and analytical rather than a description of actions completed. When working in collaboration with others, you should comment on how this may impact either positively or adversely and outline the steps you can take to minimise disruption to your own progress. Additional requirements, not included in the 350word limit of the proposal: Project action plan and timetable: This section provides you with an opportunity to outline your planning and organisation over a period of weeks and the activities you will need to carry out in order to successfully complete your project in the agreed time frame. The more time and thought you give to planning your project, the more successful it is likely to be. It is important that you consider how you will balance ambition, time and realism in the realisation of the project. You should also include what you are going to do, how you will do it and by when. Remember to include: time spent sourcing materials and other resources to conduct research, seek feedback from tutors and peers, and identify when you will carry out independent study. Bibliography (Harvard Format): This section provides an opportunity to record the initial research sources, both primary and secondary, that you intend to use. Your sources of research should be as wide as possible and could include libraries, galleries, books, magazines, films, computer games, websites, blogs, social media, radio programmes, archive material etc. Where appropriate, you should use the Harvard system of referencing. The bibliography should be continuously updated as the project progresses.

This was fairly simple to use and do as I already had experience from the previous year on it. I used Adobe Photoshop to create my poster. With Photoshop, I was not familiar with it making me want to create the poster on Adobe InDesign. I was then recommended by my peers to create it on Photoshop as it is much easier and more effective and that was the case when I made my poster. Lastly, I used Adobe Premiere to edit both of my videos. I learnt how to apply transitions and effects to my advert and especially my movie which needed a lot of that included. Before the start of these units, I never really had a clear of what I wanted to do in the future. After doing these things I realized that I enjoyed making films and posters for them. This has now influenced me to make something along the lines of film or documentary for my final poster. Section 2: Project Concept (approx 200 words) I have decided that for my final project, I will be making a short film intro based on a young boy who lives in London and is not only a passionate football fan but also a talented youth that fulfilled his dreams and aspirations of becoming a professional pro. Whilst training one day, and agent decides to offer him a trial at a London club which he is grateful for. The day of the trial, he has to decide whether he wants to attend the trial, or join

The aim of the film is to entertain the audience and to reveal the choices that young people make in life and the impacts it has on them in the future.
