ENGLISH5 QUARTER4 MODULE1 WEEK1-3 How Visual and Multimedia Elements.pptx
Evaluation question 4
1. Evaluation Question 4
How did you use media technologies in the construction and research,
planning ad evaluation stages?
2. Research & Planning – Technology used, how and
why/what for?
By using a computer for our research and planning, I was able to come across
websites to find out information about my primary and secondary target audience
and demographics which helped when planning the video and what would fit the
TA. Also by using the internet, I was able to access search engines such as Google
and Bing which then lead me to access Youtube which let me look at different
music videos to complete generic and normal music video conventions and also
student work which was presented via prezi which is similar to a powerpoint which
kept everything organised.
I used several types of software and this included powerpoint and word which
helped me present my shooting schedule, shot list and risk assessments which
were all crucial when coming down to coursework. With all the coursework, I
uploaded them onto a website called blogger which kept everything in order so I
know what tasks I had completed.
3. Research & Planning – Technology used, how and
why/what for?
I used cameras, microphones which helped me film target audience videos, pitches
and focus groups. This was useful when it came to discussing what we will include
in the video as we would want to include elements which pleased the target
audience we filmed. To edit the footage we used Movie Studio Platinum which
helped us edit bits out so it wasn’t as long, we were able to add text and filters if
needed as well which helped when watching it back via Youtube.
Communication was key when we were planning the video, we needed to keep in
contact with each other for other ideas and organising days to film. Not only to
stay in contact with people in our group however the actors we were using as well,
they needed to know the details and what they would be doing and when.
4. Conclusion
Concluding the research and planning stage, I have improved my skills by using all
the technology, especially the cameras as this helped a lot when filming our final
video. Whilst using different websites such as blogger and prezi, this helped me
further as I developed more skills when using a computer.
5. Construction - video
Throughout the whole process of creating our music video, we used several types
of media technologies such as using a camera, we didn’t need a microphone as we
would be blocking out the sound anyway. We used the camera to film all the
footage including using a dolly to experiment with different shots.
To edit the whole video, we used an editing software called Movie Studio Platinum
which helped us get rid of irrelevant footage and so it all makes sense and looks
professional. We also were able to add filters and transitions, fades, overlays and
jump cuts which made our video more appealing to the target audience. We
decided to use filters to establish the past and the present between both
relationships.
6. Construction - video
To enable our music video to be completely finished, we needed the song to go
with it. Therefore using a downloading software, we were able to download the
song to then add for the video so it is all put together. We then uploaded the video
onto Youtube so I can then take screenshots for further tasks and so it can be
shared and we can get feedback, again for further tasks.
We shared our video so that is it easier to access and for our whole group to be
able to finish further evaluations. Furthermore, I have developed more skills
throughout this whole process, especially when it comes to Movie Studio Platinum,
it helped me edit the video, TA audience interviews and the pitch and I now know
how to use the software and how to add different filters and transitions.
7. Construction – ancillaries
When producing our ancillary tasks (Magazine Advert and Digipak) we mainly used
one editing software and that was Photoshop and this allowed us to add filters,
text and if needed get rid of marks, blemishes and any imperfections and this can
make both digipak and advert more appealing and attractive. By experimenting
with different colours and filters, we decided to go for a reddish tone which made
it look different and somewhat more appealing.
We used the camera because we needed to take still images for the digipak and
magazine advert. For the digipak, we used the computer and printer to print out
photos of the music sheets so then we had access to them.
8. Conclusion – Construction: Video & Ancillaries
Throughout the construction stage of both video and ancillary tasks, I have gained
a lot of skills such as using photoshop, movie studio platinum and handling a
camera and filming. Although we filmed in the research and planning stage, I think
filming in open areas has let me learn a lot of skills such as the lighting and
background. The ancillary task editing helped me a lot therefore I can use
photoshop for other cases.
9. Evaluation 1 – How did you use media technologies in
the evaluation stage?
For evaluation 1, I used a website called prezi and I have also used this for previous
tasks which can explain and give information much clearer and easily rather than a
word document which can be quite confusing and a bit full on. As I used this
software a lot during the two years I have been doing media, I know my way
around and how to edit paths and how to jump from the right section to the next. I
was able to add images and youtube videos easily and therefore the audience are
able to see them easily without any complications.
10. Evaluation 2
For evaluation two, I decided to voice record myself from a script I wrote
beforehand then used Movie Studio Platinum to edit it and add photos and videos
over my voice. I found this much easier than typing up the whole thing as it would
be a lot to read and very time consuming. I also found this easier as I have used the
software before with the pitch, target audience interviews and also in the previous
year when editing the film opening. I used a voice recorder and a microphone to
help me record this, I found this wasn’t too bad and fairly simple to handle due to
using similar equipment in the AS Level when filming. By using Movie Studio
Platinum gave me more confidence as I felt I was able to add images and videos
easily which made it more appealing for whoever is watching.
11. Evaluation 3
For evaluation 3, I decided to simply use a word document as I thought this would
be easier and simpler rather than using a prezi and messing about with different
paths and organising it whereas I can just type it up and go into detail. I decided to
use this as a software as I can easily add photos and text and still looking
presentable. I will also be using blogger to upload my evaluation onto my blog
where it is shared.
12. Evaluation 4
In order to answer evaluation 4, by using a computer, I
decided to use a powerpoint presentation which
allowed me to add images and text to discuss the
different technologies used within my A2 Media course.
By using this on a computer I was able to access my
previous work which then allowed me add examples of
my work to show and talk about. After completing this
task, I used the website blogger in order to upload my
work onto my blog where it is shared with others.
13. Conclusion
In conclusion, I believe I have gained many skills throughout AS & A2, especially
with Photoshop as I have never really used it properly before and also Movie
Studio Platinum as I have never used it before either however now I am more
comfortable with using these different types of software. Although I used it in AS, I
thought I was more confident this time as I knew what I was doing and I was able
to add different filters and more effects.
