2. • The targeted audience is media literate, which suggests modern demographics.
This may mean incorporating media features such as postmodernism, with
hyperrealities suggesting escapism. In the music videos that I have analyzed,
there is a frequent use of hyperreality.
• This may be to attract the audience through curiosity and intrigue of trying to
make sense of the peculiar scenes within Harry Style's and Peter McPoland's
videos.
• On the contrary, Sabrina Carpenter's video, it is more realistic to todays
standards of a stereotypical American house party. This makes the idea of her
video and narrative easier to relate to for the audience, and also easier for them
to interpret meanings.
• All of these videos appeal to a modern audience fitting the same target audience
that I am briefed with, because these audiences are more likely to be younger
demographics of an active audience from a well- educated society.
3. RAYE- the original singer of ‘Oscar
Winning Tears
• According to Raye - Music PR, Social Media and Digital
Marketing for musicians, artists, bands and brands
(charmfactory.co.uk), the original targeted audience for Raye
was described to be younger than most artists. “The plan was to
introduce Raye to the market, maintaining her credibility with
influential publications and tastemakers, whilst also placing her
into the view of girls of a similar age, a slightly younger target
audience than other similar artists.”
4. • It has multiple genres: Dance/ Electronic, UK R&B, Pop.
• This fits multiple demographics and psychographics such as Reformers,
explorers and aspirers. These psychographics fit a modern and media literate
audience, which fit with a target age of young adults.
• According to https://chloebaconmediaa2.wordpress.com/2018/01/15/andrew-
goodwins-music-video-

%20that%20every%20music%20video,editing%20of%20a%20music%20video,
“Andrew Goodwin's music video theory states that every music video consists
of”: “Links between the music and the visuals: If a song is very electronic and
upbeat the director may include a dance sequence to reflect the style. This is
also the same in regards to the editing of a music video.”
• This suggests that within my music video I need to incorporate a narrative that
follows the lyrics, as well as fitting the genre of the music. This will make the
music video overall a higher success as it will be easier for the audience to
interpret the narrative, and it will also be more appealing as well.
