3. In this modern era, people tend to care only about winning or losing
and success rather than enjoying the process, especially young people
nowadays. Under pressures from all sides, the young people think that only
success proven them. Some of them even enjoy the success of glory, such as
praises from parents, teachers and friends. This eventually led them to a
more stressful study life, as they are not studying it for their own good. Many
young people also have little leisure time as they have to deal with all sorts of
things like study, private tuitions, homework and assignments. There are three
main causes that contribute to this matter like family factor, high education
system and financial problems of the family.
Family is the main factor that contributes to this matter. Most of the
parents want their children to do well or score well in their studies in order to
have a good bright future. Thus, they always do what they think is the best for
their children. For example, they try to arrange a very pack timetable for their
children to ensure that they are well educated by having a lot of private
lessons and tuitions. This causes them to spend extra hours for each day
after coming back from school and led them to have no leisure time. Besides,
some of the parents have the wrong mindset that limiting the time for their
children to play is for their own good. Actually, this is a wrong thought and it
will eventually result in some negative effects on their children and the
pressure on them is considerable. These will cause their children always live
under the pressure, autism and even commit suicide in a long term effect
which will spoil the great future of a young people.
Beside the main factor, the high education system is also another
factor that causes young people have little leisure time and are under a lot of
4. pressure to work hard in their studies. As we all know that, Fog (2006-2013)
mentioned that hard work is always the key to success. Nowadays, there are
a large number of applicants applying for the universities but the number of
places in universities is so limited. This leads to increase the pressure on
students since they have to study hard in order to obtain a place in the
university. This competition of success will definitely make the students only
concentrate on their school performance and thus they will have less leisure
time. People always try very hard to catch up no matter how high the standard
is. So, these people will usually have an unbalance daily lifestyle that makes
them feel very stress. In addition, some of the subjects are really hard and
students have to study a lot of subjects which some of it are in excess. These
cause the students have to spend much more time to understand or discover
it, which is also a consequence of having less leisure time. It will make the
young people to feel very stress, have not enough time to rest and exercise
and thus have an unhealthy lifestyle.
Last but not least, financial problem is also one of the causes that
made young people to have less leisure time. Many people have the concept
that “money is everything”, especially for those who live in poverty. Their
children will need to go for a part-time job due to the shortages of money to
help their parents out in the financial problems such as paying school fees,
subsistence expenses and so on. Some of these people may even put more
efforts in earning money compared to studies to improve their financial status.
These people usually study and work at the same time, which may cause
many negative impacts on their studies. This is because they still need to
work after coming back from school, which will make them to have less time
5. for their home-works and studies. The negligence in their studies can cause
them to get bad results in the examinations, fired from the school or leave the
school themselves. Furthermore, they also get pressure from both works and
studies.
In conclusion, according to Fog (2006-2013) it is true that hard work is
the key to success. But, young people must know that their life isn’t just about
studying, there are much more things to enjoy in this fantastic world.
Therefore, young people should study hard and at the meantime play hard
when it is the time to play. Remember, moderation is the key.
